"Not in A Tuscan Villa" is a funny, charming, intimate, and heart-warming story of an American couple who dared to live their dream - to live in Italy for a year. I loved the intelligent humor and writing style, and I appreciated how they sprinkled Italian words and phrases throughout the book - it gave the book more of an Italian feel. Their descriptions of food, people, and sights were so lively that at times I felt I was really there with them. I felt the book was over too soon; I wanted to know more. To me this book was not just a travel book, but a beautiful love story - a story about true companionship and love for life. Having visited Italy myself I enjoyed revisiting some of the places and experiencing them from a different perspective. I pulled up my travel photos while I was reading to enliven my memories of some of the beautiful places. This book can be a great inspiration to people who have a similar dream, but lack the courage to make the first step.

I so enjoyed this book that I read it straight through twice! A friend introduced me to it, and it is a very amusing account of a couples year living in Tuscany, but not at all sweet and cloying. They have plenty of ups and downs, especially health wise, but their love of Italy comes shining through, and it made me want to pack my bags and go see it all for myself. I don't know that part of Italy, but I shall try to visit soon.

I really enjoyed this book. I love Italy and read as much as I can about the country. There are so many books written about moving to Italy and this one is brilliant!

Interesting insight about everyday life in a foreign country, written without rose coloured glasses, great read & great detail about a couple of italian cities.
