Not of This Earth has been MIA for decades so this DVD release is certainly welcome. Unfortunately, unlike its companion feature Attack of the Crab Monsters, the transfer is not taken from the theatrical version. It is the TV version which was padded out with repeated scenes (note the chase at the end) plus a written prologue and end cast which were not in the original version. This complaint aside, it's great to see this B-Movie classic again and chances are we'll never see a better copy.

bloke shows up who needs blood and it turns out he is an alien vampire type thing
in an attempt to hide his actions he hires an assistant to help him find blood and a nurse to help him with the transfusions
as you would they start to get a little suspicious and then the fun begins
the good stuff: the actings not half bad and the plot is quite entertaining and still relatively faithful to the original and it notes quickly and i never found myself bored
and of course traci lords looks stunning
the bad stuff: it seems they spent all their budget on lords and as such the special effects really aren't special at all and the car chase towards the end is terrible
but overall as an exercise in camp stupid fun this is highly entertaining

Cheap B movie not seen on TV for a long time and was not as good as I remembered. The acting, story and effects are to be expected from a real cheapie movie although actor Paul Birch is suitably stilted in his delivery as the alien of the title.

This is the sort of movie that I would normally avoid for being typical American Trailer Trash fare, but I actually enjoyed it.
The acting is a bit "naff" and the story a bit "iffy", but Traci Lords is gorgeous (of course this was the first thing I had ever seen her in, as I understand that having her earlier underage movies could get you into trouble in the USA - luckily the UK is a bit more tolerant in that respect!)
It's a pleasant bit of hokum for a wet Sunday afternoon.

I grew up watching this type of movie in the 80's but was too young to get this one. I always remember the hoo haa over the discovery of Traci Lords' age, which rocked the porn industry at the time and so I was intrigued to see exactly what all the fuss was about. As a previous reviewer comments THAT blue bikini is a real wow on her rather gorgeous body and if you accept that this was the 80's and hammy acting was the norm for these type of films (think Weird Science, Amazon Women On The Moon, Airplane, etc) the film works. Although required to be in varying states of undress Traci Lords does deliver a pretty good performance and the story moves along quite well.

All in all a very good schlock horror movie from the 80's and worth a watch for the lovely Miss Lords in THAT blue bikini.

Yep Mr. Johnson AKA Mr. Strange (Arthur Roberts) came to our planet to borrow a little liquid protein that is sorely lacking back home. He has no scruples as to how to obtain it.
He finds that transfusion is the popular procedure and with the help of Dr. Rochelle (Ace Mask), borrows his cute nurse Nadine Story (Traci Lords, “Serial Mom” (1984)), to do the deed. As Mr. Johnson steps up his procedures to obtain the necessary before the dead line, we watch Nadine get suspicious.
This is a great remake of the 1957 Rodger Corman classic, not to forget that Michael York was in a 1995 version. In this version there was more flesh than blood. However this could have been better without the modern gratuities slasher scene.
The background always has this synthesizer quasi fifty’s music. With such hits as:
“Women are like Tanks”
“You make me horny”
“Invasion of the body snatchers”
“Room at the bottom”

I had to laugh when reading the back of the DVD and it had a comment from Corman saying He was a bit Dubious about remaking the Original Classic. Eh!.....Classic!!!!!!!!!!? This aint no classic and Im afraid the original wasn't either.
