Product Description

Review

"Having a map of the path that shows where each practice is headed helps me to see what each stage is preparing me for. Even the chapters that at first didn't seem relevant to my current practice contained such great gems of teaching that they turned out to be extremely relevant and very helpful."--Catherine Fordham

"To me, this book is like the world's best kind of GPS! I feel that by following its guidance, even though I am not a skilful driver, I will have the confidence to drive through my Ngondro practice--and may even end up feeling quite good about it!"--Helena Wang

Sparkling and informative. Rinpoche is steeped in lineage and yet makes everything relative, modern and accessible - thus enriching the understanding of the ways of Dharma. He eliminates a prevalent tendency to bring in the cultural aspects of it. Would highly recommend.

If you have read DJK before you will not be surprised by how simply he writes and how easy he makes it for us to even glimpse the first steps to waking up, he is comical and compassionate yet very serious in so many ways. Knowing very little about this type of practice, and with 1/4 of the book to go I am finding it very helpful, having been involved in sitting practice for some years I had not come across such specific instructions about visualisations and how to use them, in this way before, it is therefore a first step for me in this regard. Please read if you want to live fully with a heart willing to give your mind time to experience. I also recommend his other book What Makes You Not A Buddhist, brilliantly honest and no holds barred.
