This is a gripping and chilling tale of the hunt for a serial killer, and all the secrets and history leading up to this point. Natalie has her own past to deal with, but she has turned her life around and is now in the Top Ten in her field of psychology. Matt is a Detective who is known for not giving up on a cold case, especially those that deal with women or children. Together, this pair are determined to bring to justice The Butcher who has been killing people for far too long. Finding out who he is and why he is doing it though, is proving exceedingly difficult, so Matt asks Natalie to help with the only victim left alive - a seventeen-year-old girl who has been institutionalised.

This story is thrilling as the plot slowly comes together. Nothing is rushed, not even the relationship between Matt and Natalie which I was very pleased about. Yes, it was instant attraction but they actually dealt with it like adults. Very well-written and with no editing or grammatical errors that I could see, this was a smooth story that held my interest from beginning to end. Definitely recommended for all fans of romantic suspense.

* I received this book from Enticing Journey Book Promotions in return for a fair and honest review. *

HASH(0x9611609c) out of 5 stars Hooked me in 16 Dec. 2015
By Lisa - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
Police detectives falling in love whilst working a case is a rarity but this combined the romantic and suspenseful elements brilliantly for an edge of your seat read.

The Butcher is back preying on women and the only witness and survivor has locked herself away for her own preservation. Matt, lead Detective on the case, needs help from psychologist Natalie to unlock any secrets that only survivor Hallie may have locked away. With the Butcher on the loose, danger is never far away and the next victim around the corner.

Matt and Natalie work well together but neither put finding the Butcher before Hallie's safety. The sparks fly between the two and Natalie feels safe with him. Both are fierce and protective over the people or situations that are important and giving up is not in their vocabulary.

This was a read that I could sink into and let myself just go along for the ride as secrets and pasts are revealed. Spine tingling good but with just the right amount of sweetness mixed in.

HASH(0x961160f0) out of 5 stars Needed noise, but a good suspenseful story. 16 Dec. 2015
By Mignon Mykel - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
One of the things I first noted in book one, NOT FORGOTTEN (no formal review, but another 4-star title), was that the scenes play out like a silent movie -- something that carried through into this second story in the HARBOUR BAY series. Where the previous opens with a very brutal scene in young Hallie's life, this book opens with Darryl and his partner, Amelia, on a crime scene. The scene is graphically described to the reader, but the one thing that was missing for me was the sound. Yes, the author used words such as "bustling", but I couldn't hear anything. It was as if Darryl was looking at the scene with earplugs; even his thoughts were nearly muted.

However, the moments of dialogue shortly after Darryl's digesting of the crime scene were filled with character appreciation -- we learn really quick just how hard and to-the-point Amelia could be, a fact that helped drive her friendship with Kellie, and later, Kellie's need for Amelia's approval of things between herself and Darryl.

The plot, the suspense... it was very well written. The growing relationship between Kellie and Darryl was well written as well. But for the reader who needs noise, the one who needs dialogue... this is a story that has it's slow moments. If you can get past those things, though, the story has it's enjoyable moments and the people are easy to fall for. While not necessary to read book one, it was definitely fun to get to see Matt, Natalie, and Hallie again, and to hear Darryl's thoughts on his once partner, Matt.

With the help of psychologist Natalie Miller, detective Matt Murphy sets out to catch a killer. "The Butcher" is loose in Harbour Bay and there's only one surviving witness - a tough, seventeen-year-old girl named Hallie.
I loved the characters and the way this book just grabbed me right from the start. It's a chilling read, a crime thriller at its best, with superb writing and plot twists. I'm excited to check out the next in the series!
