I first read this story last June and I enjoyed re-reading it. It is an entertaining story, which kept me hooked (despite having read it before) with a HFN ending. Would have preferred a HEA ending which could perhaps have been achieved with an epilogue several years down the road.

Jules can't wait to shake off the dust of the small town she lives in and return to her home town of New York where she plans to study design. However hooking up with a sexy Western brother weeks before she is due to leave is not one of her better ideas. A sexy read. Highly recommended. Again an epilogue would have been a nice bonus.

Carly is 37 whilst Tommy is 22. I am not a fan of large age differences, particularly the cougar scenario. Personally I couldn't bear to be with anyone that other people would think was my son or my parent. I would think that Carly would be forever trying to look, act, dress young and fear that he would leave her for a younger model. Having said that, the story line was both interesting and sexy.
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley I was not compensated for my review, and I was not required to write a positive review. The opinion expressed here is my own.

I absolutely love these novellas!! I bought and read Not My 1st Rodeo set 1 before I read this set, although it's not necessary to read one without the other, I'm extremely glad I did. Reading the continued story from some of the 1st box set was fun, it made me an instant fan of these talented authors. I cannot wait to see what other stories they have written! Due to sexual content this novel is recommended for readers 18 and older! I voluntarily reviewed an ARC copy of this book via Entangled Publishing through NetGalley for an honest review, but I've also purchased a copy.
Just a small town girl, who owns the Forge. He's the local boy who knows the girl. Okay, my sort of ode to Bon Jovi is over. LOL Joe, the sheriff, has let his sister talk him into yet another blind date, this time with one of her co-workers. It does not go well, Joe does not want to be there with her. He's done with this crap. Plus, as always happens when she's around, he can't stop watching Cassidy.
Cassidy, who can handle every aspect and position of her business as needed, ends up being the waitress for Joe's current blind date. Yes, the date is annoying, Joe's expressions showing he agrees, and perhaps Cassidy may wish she was the one dining with him. But, thanks to her ex-husband, she knows she has insecurity issues and doubts she's Joe's type.
Joe can admit, at least to himself, that quite a few times he's thought about asking Cassidy out, but wonders just what all she endured with her ex and how deeply it's impacting her. But when something leads him to believe Cassidy is interested, Joe begins to wonder if the right woman has been in his life all along.
However, Cassidy's life is about to get more complicated and dangerous after witnessing a crime, and realizing she knows the person behind it. Joe is concerned the man may recognize Cassidy too, and knowing she needs protection until they arrest him, offers to let her stay with him over the weekend...he's off work anyway, so he'll be around just in case.
What happens when Joe and Cassidy are forced into close proximity? Will they act on their mutual attraction? Can Cassidy risk her heart again? Can Joe keep her safe? Will they ride off into the sunset together? Or will they let each other go, concerned about what others may say regarding the sheriff dating a witness?
Captivating the Cowboy by Jenna Bayley-Burke -
Slade, a widowed single father of two, knows his children need a woman, the right one, in their lives. For the past year, he's had a different date every Friday night. Jules, an employee of the steakhouse where these dates take place, has been a witness to each first date, never seeing him return with the same one. Of course, that doesn't bode well for her opinion of him, labeling him, despite his seemingly nice personality, as a player. Jules has no idea Slade has found it difficult each time to not focus on her instead.
When Jules learns Slade hasn't felt a connection with any of the women, she offers herself up as a wingman, err woman. It'll give her something to do before moving to New York to attend design school. When Slade insists he's done with the dating site, and Jules discovers it's been a while for him, she makes an offer too good to refuse. A short-term only sort-of-friends with benefits arrangement. Yeah, she's attracted to Slade herself, but she's leaving and there's no way she'll let anything stop her from chasing her dream. Although, it doesn't take long for Jules to realize Slade does have some excellent persuasive techniques.
What happens when fun becomes so much more? Will Jules follow her goal to move to New York? Or has her dream changed? Will Slade realize how deeply he's fallen for Jules? How badly he and his children need her? Can he convince her to take a chance at forever?
For those, such as myself, that are safety conscious, it comes across as if Slade has not slept with anyone since losing his wife almost two years prior, but it also hints that maybe it's only been a year, the first after losing his wife having being rough with him drinking a lot. So, I'm not sure what to think. I wish it was more specific. Also, an apology from Ace, Slade's brother, regarding the "talk" he had with Jules and the insinuations he made should've been included. Things were said, her feelings were hurt, that was it. There was no resolution on it and if I were Jules, I'd harbor some resentment toward Ace, regardless of him believing he was protecting Slade (an adult, and older) from Jules. She already believes there are some that look down on her and then to have your future brother-in-law do the same, and never say he's sorry, you make his brother happy, etc. isn't how to start a HEA. As for Slade and Jules, I felt the connection, sexually, with these two, but not so much the other until Jules was interacting with his children and watching him with them. Plus, for someone so adamant about not staying in a judgmental town, she caved fairly easily. It seemed a little too convenient.
Roping the Rancher by Sarah M. Anderson -
It's not you, it's me. Well, for Tommy, a college senior, it's kind of both. For some reason, girls his own age seem to always be lacking in some way, even if he doesn't realize that's his issue with them, or they're too clingy, as in his most recent girlfriend, celebrating a month anniversary and getting him a rose. Who does that? But the worst part is, Carlene (Carly) the restaurant's assistant manager, is always privy to his dates/breakups. He's noticed since his first visit how sexy she is and can't help but wonder now if maybe he's looking at the wrong type of "girl."
Yeah, Carly's noticed him. He may be too young for her, but she has, and unfortunately, she's also seen all the girls he brings in as well. However, she's made the mistake of falling for, and marrying, the wrong man before and it did not end well. Since her divorce, she's created a barrier to protect herself, but Tommy is slowly removing it one piece at a time.
Tommy, knowing about the dating site for a specific type (i.e. married previously, etc.) before since he made a profile for his Dad (and it worked), decides to fib a little, okay, a lot, and create one for himself. He realizes Carly may be correct about his usual choices. He decides to take a chance when he spots Carly's profile and sends her a message.
Carly can't believe it when she receives something from the site that can only be Tommy. Again, she knows he's too young for her, he's at least a a decade younger, but she plays along. She can't help it. The two exchange messages, flirting behind the safety of electronics. But Carly, firmly believing their age difference matters, tries to stick to her decision of going no further. It doesn't work. Thankfully, Tommy is persistent. And when he explains he's not looking for long-term, but is more than willing to have some fun with her, and will do whatever she asks...well, how can she say no to that?
What happens when their arrangement starts becoming so much more? Can Carly get over their ages? Will Tommy ever be ready for something permanent with her? Can Carly let go of her past and explore what could be with Tommy? Is there a HEA for them? Or is their time together just for fun?
On a side note, I could've done without Tommy's reflection on his sex life with the girl in the beginning of the book, and others, including how much she likes a certain position. Just no. Don't give me things like that and then expect me to become invested in the guy with another woman, the heroine. Ugh. Nor do I like that Carly has witnessed Tommy's dates, leaving her (and she thinks this in the book) to always wonder afterward what they're doing. What woman wants to experience that with a guy she likes? Also, I wish we were given more of an insight, or at least an epilogue, into their future instead of it being alluded to.

Seducing the Sheriff by Donna Alward - If witnessing a bank robbery isn't proof that dating just doesn't work for Cassidy doesn't know what does. Now being protected by the very sexy sheriff - that might just work out fine! A little humor, a little suspense makes this a good read.
Roping the Rancher by Sarah M. Anderson - A great story that proves the heart wants what the heart wants and age differences shouldn't matter. Carly's no cougar but when the much younger Tommy keeps coming around it gets harder and harder to resist him.
Captivating the Cowboy by Jenna Bayley-Burke - For the last ten months Slade Weston has been on one bad first date after another. After losing his wife more than two years ago he's ready to move on with his life. Running a ranch and raising two small children doesn't leave a lot of time for dating so he signs up with Notmyfirstrodeo.com to help him along. Strangely though none of the women the site sets him up with have any appeal. Not like the sassy charismatic waitress at the local diner!
Cassidy gets more than she bargained for in Seducing the Sheriff. From online dating to in need of protection, never would she have suspected that she'd find a love match along the way. Donna Alward brings the funny but combines a hint of danger with her always captivating and heartwarming formula.
With Roping the Rancher, Sarah Anderson seduces her readers with her tale of an older woman and a younger man. A little taboo, but a whole lot of sexy. Carly releases her inner vixen and finds out what happiness means.
Captivating the Cowboy by Jenna Bayley Burke - Jules has big dreams that do not include letting rancher, Slade tie her down. Will the heart win out over the ambition? A simple story of how powerful an emotional love can be.
