From the Inside Flap
Not Dead Yet is Phil Collins’ candid, witty, unvarnished story of the songs and shows, the hits and pans, his marriages and divorces, the ascents to the top of the charts and into the tabloid headlines. As one of only three musicians to sell over 100 million records both in a group and as a solo artist, Collins breathes rare air, but he has never lost his talent for crafting songs that touch listeners around the globe.
This is the story of his epic career, from child actor to one of the most successful songwriters of the pop music era. A drummer since almost before he could walk, Collins received on-the-job training in the seedy, thrilling bars and clubs of 1960s swinging London before finally landing the drum seat in Genesis. Later he would step into the spotlight on vocals after the departure of Peter Gabriel, and compose the songs that would rocket him to international solo fame with the release of Face Value and ‘In the Air Tonight’.
Whether he’s recalling jamming with Eric Clapton and Robert Plant, pulling together a big band fronted by Tony Bennett, playing twice at Live Aid, or writing the Oscar-winning music for Disney’s smash-hit animated film Tarzan, Collins keeps it intimate and his storytelling gift never wavers.

✤ NOT DEAD YET ~ THE AUTOBIOGRAPHY by PHIL COLLINS
✤ HARDBACK with DUST-JACKET
📝 ‘What you are about to read is my life, as seen through my eyes.
It might not comply with the memories of others involved, but it’s the way I remember it.
I’ve held a lifelong belief that we all have our ‘camera shutter’ moments, when we all remember a scene differently, or we don’t remember a scene at all.
Sometimes that memory can shape a person’s life, yet other people involved don’t recollect it...
...This book is my truth about things. The stuff that happened, the stuff that didn't happen.
There are no scores settled, but there are some wrongs righted...
...If you can remember the seventies, you clearly weren't on as many Genesis tours as me, Tony Banks, Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett and Mike Rutherford. And if you can remember the eighties, I'm sorry about me and Live Aid.
It's 2016 and we've lost many of my peers, so I've had cause to reflect on my morality, my frailties.
But also, courtesy of my children, I've had to think about my future...
...My name is Phil Collins and I'm a drummer, and I know I'm not indestructible.
This is my story.
My love affair with PC started with a ‘Miami Vice’ episode in the mid-80s.
Since then I have listened to his music more often than not ~ an emotional roller coaster of fantastic songs with, seemingly, more downs than ups ~ so I finally decided to find out what might be behind some of those unforgettable lyrics.
Some of the answers are here in this chunky hardback book that measures around 23.75 cm x 15.75 cm x 4.25 cm, but there is so much more, too. Detailed memories from childhood to 2016, across 414 pages, split over 22 chapters...all well written and in a good-sized font (so I don’t need my reading glasses)!
Pages 415/6 acknowledge the photographs contained within, ahead of an alphabetical index, pages 417-447.
From the back dust-jacket flap:
📝 ‘Philip David Charles Collins was born in Putney in 1951.
He has been an actor, drummer, songwriter, producer, and, at various times, members of the bands Flaming Youth, Genesis and Brand X.
He is the author of one previous book The Alamo and Beyond: A Collector’s Journey.
He lives in Florida.’
‘Not Dead Yet’...or deaf...thank heavens!

He describes,in candid detail, the toll that the road to success has taken on his relationships, and his health;the highs and the lows of being one of the most successful musicians of all-time.
This is the story of a brilliant but flawed man,who freely and bravely admits that he's made mistakes in his life.A must-read.The best book I have read in 2016/17.Highly recommended.
