From the Publisher
Primordial Traditions Ltd is a publisher of esoteric, occult, mythology, cultural, spiritual and philosophical works.
Primordial Traditions has been in operation since 2005.
The idea of the Primordial Tradition evolved out of the concept known as philosophia perennis, or perennial philosophy, which in itself is a development from the prisca theologia of the Middle Ages. Both the idea of the Primordial Tradition and the philosophia perennis attempt to establish common factors amongst different traditions, with the goal of producing a superior gnosis or level of wisdom than that which would have been obtained by the study of a single religion. In this sense, the term Primordial Tradition is utilized to describe a system of spiritual thought and metaphysical truths that overarches all the other religions and esoteric traditions of humanity.
This book is part of a series of publications on the worlds spiritual Traditions. Forthcoming titles in this series include the Occult Tradition and Alchemical Traditions.
From the Author
Of all the spiritual Traditions which encompass the earth, perhaps one of the most over looked is perversely the one which is closest to us in the Western world; namely the indigenous Tradition of Northern Europe. The fact that the average person's knowledge of the cultural forces which helped to shape the course and facets of European history falls well below the margin of acceptability, should be regarded as an embarrassment to people of North European descent. No other culture in the world is as isolated from their spiritual and cultural origins as that of contemporary Western society. It is from this great estrangement that the ills and problems which face the citizen of today arise; for as technology continues to advance at a pace which many will fail to keep in tempo with, the rift between the educated and the less fortunate continues to widen. Bereft of the integrity and wisdom of our ancestral heritage, our understanding of social roles fails us. As a consequence of this alienation those who are now at the high end of the social spectrum no longer support the workers whom were the main stay of society. Likewise, we have fallen out of touch with the natural forces which our ancestors once revered, and as a consequence of this have raped and pillaged the earth to the extent that the land which once nourished us now lies barren and desolate. Animals that once coloured our folklore and were honoured in myth now lie under threat of extinction. In the face of all our man made destruction we cling to a false doctrine of progress, in the delusion that our science alone makes us superior, and that our absence of morality and ethos matters naught. Only by rekindling the dormant wisdom of our psyche can we hope to rectify the world, for any true change must first come from within.See all Product description

Toynton's lengthy exegesis of Voluspa provides an unique and highly detailed piece of research from a Traditionalist perspective, drawing on a wide range of classic works and contemporary monographs to create research which also holds an ethical value to society as a whole.
Matt Hajduk's work is superb as always and I definitely look forward to seeing more of his papers in other collections. I also found the piece of traditional herbal lore highly interesting.
What also makes the publication stand out, is that it was written under adverse conditions and was composed during a magnitude 7+ earthquake and moths of severe aftershocks in New Zealand. The fact that is written and created under such working conditions is evidence of the editor's devotion to the topic and her tenacity in times of woe.
I cannot wait until the second volume is released and anticipate it to contain scholarship above and beyond that of the content found in TYR Journal.
