- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 15 August 2024Absolutely first class lens cleaning clothes although not cheap. I use these in conjunction with lens tissues. Highly recommended
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 14 August 2024For me, Pec-Pads are tried and tested and I have bene using them for years. They are ideal for cleaning optical surfaces, screens on phones, wipe grime and sweat off cameras and electronics. They can also be used for cleaning computer and tablet screens. Highly recommended.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 November 2024These are fantastic for cleaning lenses or delicate optical equipment. However, I purchased these to clean 35mm film negatives. Be warned that these pads will leave micro-abrasions on the surface of film negatives. The scratches probably won't be deep enough to appear on most scanners, but they are there.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 July 2013This should be in every photographer and videographer's bag.
Along with the Photo Solutions lens cleaning solution (you really need to buy both), they will get rid of any oil, salt water, and other dirt that lands on your camera.
Handy for cleaning...
+ the back LCD, because we all know how greasy that gets after a day of pressing one's face and nose against it.
+ the optical viewfinder (which collects dust all too easily)
+ the UV filter if you don't happen to have a replacement filter at hand.
+ the grip because I hate greasy grips (ever had a relative with greasy hands want to play with your camera?)
.. and really any other part of your equipment that you can think of.
The reason why these work is because unlike the cheap spectacle cloth that you usually get free from other places, these sheets don't leave pieces of lint, and are so soft that they wont scratch the surface.
Yes, for 100 sheets it is on the expensive side, but they do last a long time (several months at least), and considering the cost of your equipment, I wouldn't trust anything else.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 26 March 2015Give your lens a blow first to remove any dust. Now when you see the lens servicing guys cleaning lenses they never dive into the wipes with their hands they use tweezers so the grease from their fingers does not go onto the wipe and contaminate it. Maybe a bit ott for practicalities sake but do pull them out by the very edge using your fingernails or fingertips and try not to contaminate the next pad either with your finger grease! - or yes you will get smears!
I then double fold the pad into a small square - in half then half again but again avoiding touching the part of the pad I'm going to use to wipe with my fingers. Two or three drops of eclipse fluid spaced out on the closed pointy edge of the pad you have just made. Folded wave the pad around for a few seconds till the excess has dispersed and evaporated just a little.
Start at the top edge of the lens and a bit like a squeegee window cleaner methodically move right and left very slowly on the lens using only about 6mm or so of the edge of the pad. (folded point to 5mm or so down the closed edge of that) You want to see the colourful trail of fluid evaporating about a cm or so just past where you have wiped. If not you have either put too much fluid on or you are going too quickly. (On a standard size lens about 4 seconds or so per pass right to left) Go steady is the secret so the few drops of Eclipse fluid evaporates as the pad runs across the lens. So slowly right and left just overlapping the area you crossed before. When you get to about the centre slowly work your way to one edge of the lens right up the edge of the glass and the surround, hold it there for a second or so and lift very slowly with the pad on the very edge and this will prevent a smear there too. Why stop? because of any dirt and grease, you picked up cleaning halfway you don't carry with you. If the lens is pretty dirty stop after just a few passes. Fold the pad kind of inside out now so you are using the other side. Again do not touch it when you are going to have contact with the lens. Into 1/4s again but on your second fold don't make it exactly square shunt the one edge about 1cm up so you are not using directly the other side of the pad you just used. Turn the lens 180 degrees and starting at the top right and left twisting the pad as you change direction at the edge and stop at the edge just past the centre where you previously wiped. A new pad - I know 10p each! Exactly the same again but this time if the lens was not too dirty start at the top and like the squeegee window guy all the way to the bottom. Slow lift off at the bottom edge. Fold again as before and one more pass and you should be good. Also, avoid any creases in the pads only nice smooth edges. Creases can catch dirt. Also, seal the pads bag up after use you don't want dirt and dust getting in there either. Hope that helps.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 19 October 2023My review is on the cost effectiveness as opposed to the functionality. It makes financial sense to use Microfiber Cleaning Cloths and wash after using.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 7 May 2024Bought for cleaning 8mm film stock in my collection. Also can be used for negatives etc.
- Reviewed in the United Kingdom on 9 July 2023I was repairing an old Canon FD lens which had oil over blades and some of the oil ended up on lens elements, using this with Robson lighter Fluid did actually remove the oil pretty quickly. The sheets are quite big so ended up cutting them in pieces, in doing so the flint was everywhere even with a precise cut. If you are planning to use them without cutting them then they work great.

These are great, got some sort of oil on my image sensor when using a computer duster (stupid move) to clean. These wiped all of the spots off no problem. There was something else on the sensor that didn't come off, but I used eclipse optical solution (one drop) and now my camera is crystal clear again.

Andrea S.Reviewed in Italy on 27 November 20185.0 out of 5 stars Necessari
