If you are thinking about buying the cable supplied by sky store themselves which costs several quid extra, my advice to you and I'm sure other reviewers will vouch for is DON'T. This cable does exactly the same thing.

Although I already have a HD TV, I purchased this because I have suffered the purple screen of death that makes this box unwatchable. With this s-video cable I don't have this problem, just pure analogue stream with absolutely no disruption of viewing.

PLEASE NOTE : as a side effect of not using a hdmi cable, do not expect the picture to be HD quality, you will get a standard 16:9 picture with a slight picture noise, but with that aside the quality it produces is almost dvd and perfectly watchable.

Verified Purchase

The 3 ends of this cable are red, white and yellow. I assume the white and red carry audio left and right signals and the yellow is for video. The Philips TV I have has an EXT 2 panel at the back for Pr(red) Pb(blue) Y(green) L(white) and R(red). Therefore it seemed logical to fit the red and white ends into the L & R sockets to get audio which I did but inserting the yellow cable into Y, for video, only gave a black and white image. Audio was ok.
The only way to fix this (to get a colour image) was by using a scart adapter. Image was ok (using a 37" LCD HD TV) but not as good as I had hoped which perhaps had something to do with the fact I needed to use a scart connection.
So check your TV for connections and see if you need more than just this cable. Mobile used was a Galaxy S.

Good quality. Beware of the wiring needed for your product. I found it wasn't wired to suit mine but a quick check showed that all I needed to do was remove the coloured bands and refit to suit, but will not suit all devices.
