What's New

Flexible, efficient, and powerful: the Nokia 6230i phone shares the same classic design as the popular Nokia 6230, but we've revved up the features inside.

Looking Good: We upgraded the camera resolution to 1.3 megapixels so you can show off your images in print. If you're the type who prefers action, we've set the scene with video recording and a high resolution, 208 x 208-pixel color TFT display.

Store More: There's now 32 MB of internal memory, which is easily expandable with removable MMC cards (up to 512 MB). Use the phone as a storage device for photos, music and video files - or even documents and presentations.

The Right Connections: When you need to get files from one device to another, the Nokia 6230i phone gives you true versatility with Bluetooth technology, infrared, Pop-Port", USB (supporting plug-and-play), and GPRS/EDGE networks.

I had previously used the Nokia 6230, but was converted to this step up model, 6230i, after I realised that it was actually cheaper than my original. And now, looking at it, I have no doubt in my mind that it beats Nokia's current and past phones.
So, what's the difference between this and the original firstly? Well, the screen has a better resolution - in other words, its slightly bigger (the only change in terms of the phone shape) and has alot, lot more detail - edges are smooth, text is crisp, and the colours are vivid. This leads onto the many other improvements which tie in, like better use of applications, if your a gaming person for example, you'll be delighted that 3-D games are available with excellent sprites.
The whole phone has generally had a make-over. Gone are the boring white backgrounds, in comes the 'Theme' section, where the default one is already good enough, with a blue swirly pattern. The icons are alot clearer, as is just about everything!
The camera is also a step-up, being a 1.3 megapixel compared to the 6230's VGA camera. This makes a huge difference, and with the better screen combined, you can actually take photo quality pictures for a reason - not just for when your bored! Its' particularly handy if you have a lover at heart, and what that non-grainy photo of them on your phone!
The only disappointment I do see, with regards to no update, is the video. I would have expected their to be a better quality video function, but sadly, the blocky-looking quality is present. On the phone itself it looks good, but upload it onto a computer, and it degrades.
I would also agree with other people by saying that the sound is alot better quality too, which is just as well their is a much cleaner/better looking music player present!

This is the best phone I've ever had.
Not only was cheap and reliable , the battery lasts all week , the sound is clear and is SO easy to use.
I have used other makes but the menu tends to be difficult and long winded.
Nokia produces the most user friendly phones in the market.
The bluetooth is a bonus and can also listend to FM radio with an adapter.
It has been 2 years since I got this model and I am not changing it.

Sure it doesn't have all the features that a new phone does. But this phone works. It can be abused endlessly, and consistently works.
I have had this phone now for years and I have not had a single problem with it at all.
The only minor irritation is that when you put in a person's name for a birthday, it does not automatically capitalise their surname. THAT IS IT. That is the only thing I have found wrong with the phone.
Buy it. You will not regret it.

If you want a phone to make calls, send texts and pictures, and to give you no grief at all, this is the one.

Easy, reliable, sturdy and the battery life is good. It's cheap these days too. A real smasher.

It arrived very promptly. I haven't had time to transfer data from old phone to this one, I've bought the Nokia 6230i since it came on market, I don't need an iPhone & this one is simply the best phone for me as basic & easy to use. I will keep buying the Nokia 6230i.

Only just starting using phone today since buying, good phone & I,m dreading the day I can't get hold of a replacement once this wears out. Everyone I speak to says this has to be the best phone made if your looking for simplicity. & I totally agree.

I agree with several of the other reviwers on here that this is the best Nokia mobile ever made.
I switched to Nokia from M......a years ago and have been happy with the performance of every one of the Nokia phones I have had.I then bought the 6230i,when it was released, mainly due to its size, predominantly,(I prefer to keep phones in my pocket)combined with superb capabilities.I've had three of these so far.I lost the first one,had the second one stolen (through not being in my pocket)and still went back for yet another of these remarkable devices.
When I returned to the UK after working abroad I was informed by the local Nokia dealer that I would need to have hardware components replaced for the 6230i to operate in the UK (it seems phones for China market operate on different frequencies and so will not work here.Well that's what I was told by the dealer). As a result I bought a 1208 to get by and then,at a later date, bought an N97mini.The 6230i,at least to my mind, runs rings around both the 1208 (obviously) but is also a dream to use compared to the N97mini.The 1208 is excellent at what it does (no complaints,I'm satisfied) but I am left constantly wondering why I even bothered contemplating the N97 over the 6230i.And I could have had the 6230i for £67.00 at the time.Hindsight is a wonderful thing. When are time machines going to be invented?

Notice how, nowadays, rarely do you see people carrying phones from the older generation of mobile phones (pre-blackberry / iphone), except for this particular model..

It is reliable, sturdy, good battery life, charges quickly, has an easy and intuitive menu, and just does the job it was meant to do brilliantly. The new phones easily crash, are slow, freeze frequently and have poor battery performance.. Not with this one. I have two of them, one for each country i live in, and they both are great phones, never letting me down. I've had this phone since 2004/2005 and i refuse to change it.
