Simon Bewick was born in the North East of England in 1969. He graduated from Reading University with a degree in Film and Drama; writing, directing and editing the film 'Air of December' as his dissertation project. After leaving university he worked in a number of roles including teaching, pressing buttons on a computer in a civil service job, writing film reviews, and other positions in the film world (including laboring on one particular Multiplex until a construction issue caused a ceiling collapse). In the early '90's he lived in Hokkaido, Japan- an experience he drew inspiration from for his first novel. Returning to England from Japan he spent the next 25 years working for the publishing company Oxford University Press while writing, editing and reviewing, as well as completing his Masters Diploma at Oxford University in his free time. He has had short stories published in a range of both print and online publications in the UK and US. 'Basement Tales' is his first collection of short stories, he is currently completing a novel, and preparing an anthology of crime based shorts scheduled for release September 2018.
