5.0 out of 5 stars Great book and great series 7 Jun. 2014

This is a fun series of books that have a unique perspective on being a vampire or were-creature. Unlike other series this "world" doesn't get stagnant - the story lines are very creative and you don't get bored reading about the goings-on in this school or small town.

I have small kids that I don't think are ready to hear these yet, probably not appropriate for a six year old, but can't wait until they are a little older to bring them into these stories!

Editing on this (and a few others) in the series is a little rough at spots, but not so bad that you can't tell what the author is trying to say . . . Just typos or minor issues.

Over all a great read and a really fun series of books - I hope there are more coming!

I loved the story, it had perfect romance, action, adventure, and slightly terrible comedy! It's a really good book and I recommend it to all. Ages and Status don't matter!

2.0 out of 5 stars Not happy with the ending 20 Jun. 2014

It feels like Ethan really doesn't like his main character Alice. Let the poor thing catch a break. She is an amazing character & should be liked & respected by her classmates for saving the school and their asses on countless occasions.

4.0 out of 5 stars The Female Harry Potter 11 Mar. 2014
By Jennifer A. Hanley - Published on Amazon.com
Format: Kindle Edition
I have read all of the Nocturnal Academy series and, with the exception of the ninth volume, enjoyed them. I think the author needs to polish his writing--I am not talking about Australian/British spelling and linguistic quirks--as there are numerous typographical errors in each text. I think the second book suffered the most from this. In general, the story is fun and the main character, Alice Dibble, is likeable without being overly saccharine and the supporting characters are interesting and creative. At times, these books made me laugh out loud especially the various "werecreatures." (My favourite, the weremoose.) I do think that the author whether knowingly or not, draws a great deal from the Harry Potter stories as there are multiple similarities between them--especially the 10th in the series. The Nightmare Games are a lot like the Triwizard Tournament in the Goblet of Fire. I am looking forward to the next in the Nocturnal University series. Ultimately, I enjoy reading these books although they are a bit predictable and the copy editing is truly horrific at times.
