1) Poor design means that it does not move the air towards the back of the case (horizontally) but blows it upwards (vertically). It therefore does not effective cool my Ryzen 3700x which now runs at around 50c at idle.
2) No fan speed control. Fans will always run at 100% all the time regardless of load.
My CPU too hot using this cooler I will have to look for one which is designed better
I bought this product with the assumption that a company with the reputation of Noctua wouldn't release this kind of rubbish. Realistically, with the poor cooling design of this cooler, the fans probably need to run at 100%.
Overall I regret purchasing this cooler and it has put me off buying Noctua in the future.
-bought it for 44.99GBP without prime :( waited 6 days for it.
-Easy installation
-Love the design
-Used with i7 7700k
-Idle temps 20-30 degrees
-Full load 50-60 degrees on 4.2ghz without Turbo boost
-Full load 60-70 degrees on 4.5ghz with Turbo boost ( but i turned it off, if ill need it in most demanding games then ill turn it on. For now im good with 4.2ghz.
-You can choose to use 2 types of fan cables: either the U.N.A or the louder one. Difference is in the rpm and dba. Which is quite big.
- U.N.A (Ultra Noise Adapter has 8dba levels of noise and 600-800rpm)
-the loud one has 16dba levels of noise with 1000-1300rpm) using this one to get cooler temps because the 7700k can get very hot and requires a good cooler to keep it at bay! For me it isnt loud at all with the loud fan adapter, i am very satisfied with it, no complaints.
-But if you want to OC your 7700k up to 4.5ghz+ up to 5 and more then i dont recommend this product. I would recommend the beast Noctua Best air cooler there is, the one and only NOCTUA NHD15. Go for this one if you are crazy to OC.
-uploaded photos of the product, you are wondering why there is no gpu, because there isnt haha, on its way. For now i am using the integrated gpu from i7.
MINOR UPDATE: Your Cpu load depends on a specific game, dont expect every game to have 100% cpu load.. you wont use 100% of your gpu power 90% of the time you play games... it varies and each game uses either more or less cpu power. For example AC Origins or COD WW2 may use more of your cpu power, but not 100%. So dont be worried nor scared.

Gone are my days of overclocking (although I think this cooler could keep up with OCing too) - silence was my goal.
My Core 2 Quad (Q8400) is getting a bit old now. I replaced the stock cooler on purchase with an Arctic Cooling Freezer Pro Rev 2. This kept it cool under load but wasn't the quietest of coolers and was on its way out.
I looked at a NoFan cooler and case, but the size coupled with my off-centre Asus P5Q Deluxe motherboard meant it wouldn't fit. Second attempt was a Be Quiet Dark Rock 2. That thing was enormous. Too tall for a "standard" tower case.
The P5Q, aside from the off-centre motherboard also has cooling fins surrounding the CPU, meaning space and clearance is the biggest concern.
And then along comes this Noctua NH-U9B SE2.
I bought it because of the size and claimed noise levels and wow, it delivers!
Installation was fine if you're comfortable with taking your mobo out. Always a good excuse for a bit of an air dusting and cable tidying anyway!
This requires a backplate which is as simple as screwing through the existing holes on the mobo to the mount. After that, it's just a case of sticking on the top mounts, applying the supplied thermal paste, plonking it on top and screwing it down. The 2 fans are small and the clearance was fine for fairly tall RAM and all the fins on the board.
Only downside is that they aren't PWM fans, but then with 2 of them, and the low noise, having them running at full speed is a must anyway.
Fans clip on easily, and then you're done. A quick rebuild and well, you CANNOT hear this thing. ULNA adapter for me is just fine - computer idles around 17-19c and under mild load only gets up to about 25c. Not tried under heavy load, but am convinced this will keep my CPU cool.
I've added a fan controller for my aftermarket GPU cooler and now the only thing I can hear is my NAS, which isn't excactly loud.
I'd highly recommend this to anyone with space issues in their build where noise and performance are the biggest concerns.
I don't doubt you can run this on a newer OCd machine either - just switch out the ULNA adapater. These fans are quiet without it anyway!
Excellent product, excellent build quality - superb!
