Within 30 seconds of the first "song" I'd cringed myself a hernia so severe that the doctor had to use his land rover to push it back in. If this was an attempt at parody, I would applaud Area 54 for their unflinchingly brutal attack on modern metal. As it happens, these people are deadly serious; possessing all the self awareness of some kind of pinworm. Please do not waste your money or time on this.

Well, who'd of thought it? Area 54 have took the classic (and dare i say it, Proper?) melodic way of heavy metal, added there own style, and come out with an Album of such class, that the likes of Maiden and Megadeth must be looking at each other and wondering how to keep up with this. The London 4-some have made an album that has NO filler songs (Rarity in itself nowadays)and Various styles, and leaves you waiting with baited breath for the next release. as the slogan on there own web-site proudly (and truthfully) says THE NU WAVE OF BRITISH HEAVY METAL. Do yourself a favour and buy this!

The major influence on the band comes from the likes of Megadeth,Guns and roses, Maiden and other such greats. However there are clearly more contemporary influences such as Cradle, Anathema, and PAntera. Throughout, there is an obvious love for guitar solos. Some people consider this to be 'out of date' but actually given the chance, the album shows that the band create an awesome sound that clearly contains aspects of their influences, yet at the same time is made up of a unique, modern- yet traditional combination that is definately the '54 ' sound, and shows the talents that are within this group. Mixed in with the guitar solos, on the first album, there are also tracks containing death metal style vocals, narration( Cradle of filth-esque) and also two tracks containing fantastically melodic keyboard parts.
IF u ain't got it - GET IT !!!!!!! its a feast for ur ears, wake up and taste the sandwiches!!!!

I think the album in 100% class, the best thing ive heard in ages - track 6 (time takes no pain)has got a melodic keyboard part and fantastic lyrics, that remind me somewhat of the likes of 'November Rain'. Track 10( And the last embrace) once again is fantasic. This shows the talent that the band have and the fact they are able to mix difgferent styles together with great effect- FANTASTIC Your man, Lakis Kyriakou's Vocals are brilliant - i havent heard the likes of it for a long time, certainly not in the new bands that are coming out at the moment. IM also keen on the new stuff that im hearing and i cant wait for the next album. Definately recommend this cd to everyone who likes GOOD Heavy metal from a young band who have the ability to develop their own style in the traditional style, and have avoided going down the nu-metal tracks !!! Area54 is where its at!!!

One friday night at the Red Rose theatre in Rugeley, Staffordshire i saw this band in all their mad glory!!!! they are just as good live as they are recorded unlike a lot of bands i know of that music genre. their pumping riffs and thrashing sound cut through my ears like a jackhammer and their epic solos are something for them to be proud of. if i was to choose a band that would become a sound for this generation i would definetly pick Area 54. The album could very well make them as popular as some of the nu metal bands we have today and it is a pinicle in thrash. so please if you are a fan of bands of thre likes of Metallica, Megadeth and Slayer you'll love this!!!! BUY IT NOW!!!!!!

A damned refreshing sound, a million miles from contemporary American Metal. Take Iron maiden, add a splash of Death, throw in a sprinkle of Dream Theater, and complete with the strong melodic intensity of original Sabbath, and you get a kick-ass British metal band called Area 54. I saw these supporting Blaze on the 20th of January, and they actually acheived a better sound, complexity of material, and sheer heavyness than the veteran Metallers - Blaze - themselves. This album rates as one of my favourite and most listened to CDs of last year with an excellent variety, old school (but revised) NWOBHM sound, and a good looking bassist. Buy it. Now.
