NOT the case here.
I got myself this album when i was in the states a few years ago. As a personal opinion if you're going to buy yourself just the one n'sync album, make it this one. The first album comes arcoss as a little cheesy and immature, but then it is a few years old now! Celebrity to me isn't a patch on this, good but not amazing. No strings attached is smooth and slick, but still true to it's roots, not overly produced and not too heavy - don't you just hate it when pop acts try to be pure r'n'b and can't pull it off, no strings attached has just the right flavour.
Personal favourites on the album (apart from the singles); space cowboy is a classic, it makes me ill has to be one of the best songs, the words crack me up every time, the ballads are great, shows off their vocals fabulously. (My cousin heard this album and then decided that the song at her wedding was now going to be "this i promise you")
verdict: probably the best pop album i have ever heard, blows all the others out of the water and is well deserving of being in your cd collection!!
A sneak peek at the lyrics:
"When the visions around you,
Bring tears to your eyes
And all that surround you,
Are secrets and lies
I'll be your strength,
I'll give you hope,
Keeping your faith when it's gone
The one you should call,
Was standing here all along.."
I think that is beautiful. My knees would go weak if someone said that to me.
Other good songs are, 'That's when i'll stop loving you', 'It make me ill' and 'I thought she knew'
And of course this album contains the classics 'Bye Bye Bye' and 'Its gonna be me'
Any *NSync fans... you MUST buy this album !!!!!!
Firstly, it's one of those few albums that anybody can find where they like all of the tracks (N.B. that *I* like all of them; just my individual opinion!). 'Bye Bye Bye' is that catchy cliché pop track that so many like, but NSync managed to produce an album that's not full of the same stuff and that is surprisingly independent, not being dominated by the usual tacky, meaningless pop. I mean, all of the typical elements are certainly there (e.g. lovey-dovey lyrics, computer sound effects and voice warping), but the overall output seems to resonate quality and make you want to get up and dance, in whatever situation!
A pretty even mix of dance tunes and ballads is spread across the CD, with 'No Strings Attached' being my favourite fast track and 'I Thought She Knew' being the top ballad (partially because it is a voice-only track full of harmonies of the type that just makes me melt!). Forget NSync even trying to take over the Backstreet Boys, Boyzone or Westlife... this album shows that they're most definitely settling their own standards.
