..enjoy the copious photos here of blissfully conked out kids. Read this manual and yours could look like that, too.
-- Families, Jan/Feb 2008

From the Back Cover

"At long last, I've found a book that I can hand to weary parents with the confidence that they can learn to help their baby sleep through the night--without the baby crying it out."
--William Sears, M.D., Author of The Baby Book

"When I followed the steps in this book, it only took a few nights to see a HUGE improvement. Now every night I'm getting more sleep than I've gotten in years! The best part is, there has been NO crying!"
--Becky, mother of 13-month-old Melissa

A breakthrough approach that offers hope to exhausted parents looking for gentle ways to help their baby sleep without the heart-wrenching tears

Are you suffering through sleepless nights and having to fend off a barrage of heartless advice about letting your baby "cry it out"? The No-Cry Sleep Solution will show you how it is entirely possible and within your grasp to help your baby fall asleep peacefully--and stay asleep all night long.

Until now the only two ways to deal with sleepless nights were to let your baby cry herself to sleep or to become a sleep-deprived martyr and tough it out from dusk until dawn. At last, there is a practical and effective third way, thanks to Elizabeth Pantley, a parent educator and mother of four. Pantley is like a best friend who's been there and is full of caring advice to help you and your baby get a good night's sleep. Her ten-step will lead you through the process one day at a time by:

  • Shedding new light on your baby's sleep patterns and helping you set realistic goals
  • Showing you how to analyze, assess, and improve your baby's sleep patterns using sleep logs
  • Offering a variety of sleep solutions that fit every parenting style, whether you cosleep with your baby or she sleeps in a crib or whether you breastfeed or bottlefeed
  • Creating a tear-free customized sleep plan that works for both you and your baby

Don't let sleep deprivation keep you from enjoying your baby. The No-Cry Sleep Solution is full of reassuring advice and words of wisdom from other parents who have had success with the program. It will give you the tools you need to effectively and gently reach your goal--a good night's sleep for everyone.

This was a very good read and helped me to understand my baby's sleep. Helped support the fact that the cry it out method was not good for us. Gentle tips.

For a book that claimed to get straight to the point of how to get baby sleeping- there were several chapters of 'lead up' info. I understand the importance of safety in cots etc... and have read lots of information on this anyway so I would have skipped that chapter but the author implores you to not skip it so I read it but it was all standard information which most sensible people would have already known. As for it being easy advice I disagree- you can pull out useful tips but the author sets lots of homework tasks- recording sleep patterns and making charts and even making your own bedtime story book with sticky tape& cut outs from magazines- need I say more?!! The advice / paperwork side of things is as though she wants you to do the same as her participants in her research project and the advice hasn't been well adjusted to fit in with a self help book for tired parents. It's also patronising- at one point she says that while you wait for baby to stir during day time sleep you can spend the time knitting or paying bills- thanks for that!!!

I lost 4 months of lovely sleep trying to implement ideas from this book, trying to get him to fall asleep without boob took forever and then things still didn't improve! in the end at 9 months I tried 'pick up put down' from another book and that worked in three days.

Don't bother. It takes half of the book to get to the point, and has you make journals of sleep patterns....as if anyone has the time. The ideas it gives you are things you will have tried before buying the book anyway. Not impressed.

This really suited me being a co sleeper/breastfeeder, found it encouraging and practical and methods are working for me my 6month old has gone from waking every hr to doing a 41/2 hr stretch 🤗 Gentle removal plan is helpful. Generally the info in the book is good and flexible which I liked.

You can skip first 80 pages, it's just repeating how this book will help you with your baby and the author doesn't realize that some of us don't have much time to waist. I got annoyed and stop reading...
