I bought this book when my son was 3 months old. At the time he didn't nap during the day at all, unless he was in the sling, car or pushchair. It was driving me crazy - I couldn't get anything done!
After a couple of weeks of using Elizabeth Pantley's techniques, I was able to get him to have a 40 minute nap in his Moses basket with me rocking him to sleep - a massive improvement already!
By the time he was 5 months old, I could do our little nap time routine and put him down in his cot awake. He would then wriggle about for a bit and go to sleep by himself. He is now 16 months old and I am still doing the same routine and it is still working perfectly! I owe my sanity to Elizabeth Pantley and this book! I have recommended it to all of my friends who have also had lots of success with these methods.
I am now expecting my second child and will definitely be using these techniques again.

Beyond useless to us. In fact it made our baby sleep worse. Wish I never wasted money on it.

Simply the best, most logical and emotionally sensitive book written on the subject. Many believe infants 'need' to cry to let off steam but I don't hold with this and after being advised in many methods I followed my instincts which were then affirmed when reading this book. I love the science info on sleep etc plus her sensitive approach to parents who want to use props etc and who are willing to lie with their babies to 'help' them through short sleep cycles etc. brilliant book. Don't buy if you believe in cry it out! Or perhaps you should... 😄

I was very pleased with the book. Company dealt very quickly with a small complaint about underlining in this book and gave me a full refund. I would be happy to use them again.

Pantley offers lots of advice and suggestions that you can adapt to suit your own child. This book is great for parents who don't want to be lectured and told there is only one correct way to deal with napping but just need some gentle ideas!

This book helped to almost get him to be a great sleeper but after a few months (he came a long way) he still wouldn't go to sleep still awake so we had to do a bit of CIO, he only cried for a few minutes a couple of nights which I never expected. I still refer to the book for tips on getting his naps and how much sleep he should be having.

This is the only book I've read (so far) from Elizabeth Pantley and I love the idea behind her books. When my son was four months, I decided to start giving him a regular routine in terms of bedtime/waking up time, naps and sleeping in his cot. It was not easy (probably four months is also not the best time to start doing this), but the book helped me focussing on the key issues and gave me many useful ideas. They didn't always work, but the book was definitively helpful and I would recommend it. The website mybabysleepguide.com was also brilliant. At the end of the day, I think it's quite hard avoid crying, but we can certainly try to minimize it.
