For those in the know, this is a really important document of US alternative rock in the early 1990s. It's got some very rare, obscure recordings and most are a cut above the usual fare for a charity compilation. The big surprise (Spoilers!) is that there is an uncredited, at-the-time unreleased Nirvana track at the end, which (coupled with the rare Soundgarden and Smashing Pumpkins tracks) made this a compelling purchase. However, it's the other tracks that are actually pretty darn great as well... "Hold on" by Sarah McLachlan and "Effigy" by Uncle Tupelo are both great, and Pavement's ode to REM ("Unseen Power of the Picket Fence") is a slacker rock anthem.
I bought this originally in the 90's and had to buy again as the old disk just wore out, so if you want a recommendation, it's that this is music you'll still be playing 30 years later!
