Dean immerses himself into the world of Cobain. Dean is a real intellectual, his writing is thought provoking, engaging, and purposeful. He writes with a rare freedom, with a cohesiveness that I admire. I am a writer, well an aspiring writer. I would love to write like Dean, I am going to read more, fill my head with knowledge.

Cobain was a depressed soul. A broken man, dangling from the tassels of self destruction. Dean conveys this well. I really loved the book because the way it was set, the way it was portrayed. It is easy to immerse yourself into the words.

I recommend this book to anyone interested in the life of one of music's greatest icons.

Give it a try.

Pretentious crap that makes a lot of assumptions about Kurt Cobain and his music. I would not buy this book if I were you.

Very well written in fact that it isn't two sided shows the good and bad aspects of Cobains life. I choose to read this book as his life seemed interesting and this book helps show his life. Very good read!

HASH(0xa33e34a0) out of 5 stars Not bad but you might want to look elsewhere... 25 Feb. 2013

The actual content of the book is good. I like the authors individual contributions though the majority of facts are the ones that have been out there since the 90s. No new ground is covered here...

Also, the actual organization of the book is very convoluted. It just kind of meanders around mentioning things randomly without really connecting things together completely.

Bottom line, A for effort, but at C- at best for execution

I loved the usage of Nirvana's and other bands lyrics.  It made the book so much more interesting and detailed!
