The Wii Remote Plus is an updated Wii Remote with built-in Wii MotionPlus hardware.
The Wii Remote Plus has the same physical dimensions of the standard Wii Remote and all compatible peripherals can be plugged into the base of the Wii Remote Plus as before, such as the Nunchuk or Classic Controller.
Functioning the same way as the Wii Remote with Wii Motion Plus connected together, the Wii Remote Plus enables players to see every twist of the wrist or arm brought to life on the TV screen, with the use of one compact controller.

The bright side is that Wii Remotes today are available in different colours (black, blue, pink, red and white) and with Motion Plus built in, so there's plenty to gain.
After doing some research, there seems to be a unanimous agreement that the 'Wii U' branded remote is exactly the same as the older 'Wii' version - the new packaging simply reflects that it's compatible on both systems. So while there are still some of the original 'Wii' versions around, you may be able to pick them up cheaper...
Inside the box you get the grey wrist-strap and transparent silicone cover already fitted to the remote. Batteries are also included in the box, so you'll have to take the cover off anyway to fit them in!
There are some minor modifications to this latest remote, including an external Sync button (which still requires a pointy object to press), firmer control buttons on the front face and a slightly more matte finish to the battery cover. Also, unless I'm very much mistaken, the battery life seems to have improved considerably.
As stated earlier, this remote is compatible with both Wii and Wii U systems. If you own the latter, then your reasons for purchasing one are more vast than you may think as the Plaza and Channel Menu can be fully controlled by remote (In my opinion, it is much better for it), and if you choose to go into 'Wii Mode', then you don't need any other accessories.Read more ›
Unless you want to buy used or imported from Japan (which now is not that cheap) then you will have to buy some new WiiMotes/inc MotionPlus controller which can be anything up to 40 quid - similar to the Pro Controller!
Surprisingly the character-branded WiiMotes are cheaper than the plain colour ones - and also likely to keep their value better though they don't seem to be "limited edition" anymore. But everyone loves Mario/Luigi so you cannot really go wrong with those. Hopefully in the years to come if you keep them nice you may get some money back...
I'd have given 3-stars for the price but with the branding at lower cost +1 star.
The remote works like a charm. I also own a Mario themed Wii U remote, but I like this one slightly better mainly because of the colour and the theme. It pairs withing seconds with the console and the single charge can last as good as a week if played for 1-2 hours a day.
Great Wiimote and one of Nintendo's finest product lines.
Promptly delivered via Recorder Delivery and well packaged.
