About the Author

Born in Sydney, Australia and raised in England and Brunei, Tom Barber has always had a passion for writing and story-telling. It took him to Nottingham University, England, where he graduated in 2009 with a 2:1 BA Hons in English Studies. Post-graduation, Tom moved to New York City and completed the 2 Year Meisner Acting training programme at The William Esper Studio, furthering his love of acting and screen-writing. Upon his return to the UK in late 2011, Tom set to work on his debut novel, Nine Lives, which has since become a five-star rated Amazon UK Kindle hit. The following books in the series, The Getaway, Blackout, Silent Night, One Way, Return Fire, Green Light and Last Breath have been equally successful, garnering five-star reviews in the US, UK, France, Australia and Canada. The Sam Archer series has sold over 62,000 books worldwide and each title is currently being adapted into audiobook format. In his late-twenties, Tom spends most of his time back and forth between the US and the UK. He loves movies and good thrillers and hates coffee and bad weather. I wasn't sure if I would like this book but it was free when I downloaded it and I like a good deal.

Well, I have eventually read it and I did so in about 5 hours. I just had to keep going, as I was really caught up in the interesting plot and the breathtaking action. It is a book that I know will appeal to readers of both sexes.

I am so glad I have already downloaded his other 4 books.

I was surprised to find the author is quite young. Well done Mr Barber, I am hooked and The Getaway is ready and waiting on page 1.

Found this by chance and have had a great 2 days reading it - couldnt put it down, fast paced and downright thrilling. The characters came alive and had personalities quite early on. Looking forward to reading the 2nd Sam Archer having just borrowed it to my kindle.

I'll be honest, I only got this book because it was free and i was looking for something to keep me occupied on my 4 days away - but from the moment i started reading it i couldn't put it down!! read it from start to finish in two days!
The books so well written, you genuinely begin to care for the characters. And the twists in the plot are so well done!

If you like crime/drama novels this is one for you! cannot wait to read the rest of the Sam Archer series!

Fantastic read. Could not put it down and as a result I have just finished reading the 7th book in the series. Read all 7 of them in 6 days. Gripping from start to finish every single one. Great characters and interaction between them. You can sense
the strong bond they have and become truly worried when they are in danger. Hopefully there will more of this terrific series to come. Not sure what to read now I just hope it grips me in the same way these fantastic have done. Well done Mr. Barber excellent work.

We often hear the phrase "couldn't put it down" but rarely does it totally apply. I wasn't sure this story was for me when I first started it because there was - for an elderly lady like me - some really scary stuff going on. But it didn't take long to get acquainted with the characters and I wanted to know more. That's when I couldn't put it down and I read, almost without a pause, for the entire night! The characters - including the bad ones - were so well drawn I almost felt I could see them. The author sent me down some blind alleys on occasions too. I've read a lot of books in the past two years since I owned a Kindle, but this was the most compulsive reading I have come across yet.

Wow, this book was free and what a freebie. A real roller coaster from beginning to end. Characters well developed , good dialogue and some surprises. Thoroughly enjoyed this book and will be reading more of the Sam Archer series. Set mainly in London with an odd trip to Paris, this story never lets up and is a real page turner. I recommend this book if you enjoy fast paced stories with some evil doings by terrorists!

As I read this book just as the Paris attack was taking place, I have to give the author full marks for prescience, rather strangely because the general thrust of the plot was rather old-fashioned! It appeared to hark back to the eighties notion of an elite cadre of highly-trained individuals suceeding against a master criminal due to no more than a bizarre series of coincidences rather than any evidence of technical, forensic or intellectual superiority. The fast pace did help, however, and it was fun to read.
