Nikon D3300 Digital SLR Camera
At the heart of the D3300 is a 24.2 megapixel DX-format CMOS sensor that has been designed without an optical low-pass filter (OLPF) to capture maximum image detail. Achieving exquisitely rich colours and smooth, natural skin tones, fine detail like hair or feathers are captured when paired with a NIKKOR lens. Such high-quality, high resolution images also ensure that every detail is crisp and clear, even if you crop or enlarge a portion of the photo.
An ISO of up to 12800 provided by the Expeed 4 image processing engine delivers ideal results even in low light.
High speed performance
Working to a high standard in all light conditions, High ISO capability (100-12800 and extendable up to 25600) delivers shots and sharp images of fast moving subjects even in poorly lit environments. Equipped with Nikon’s Expeed 4 image-processing engine, this system runs through countless operations at lightning-fast speeds to produce remarkably clear movie recordings and images with minimised noise and tonal gradation. With continuous shooting available at up to 5 fps, fleeting movements or expressions can be caught at just the right moment.
Make every shot a masterpiece
With the desire to inspire more photographers and help users to get the most out of feature-rich cameras like the D3300, Nikon’s Guide Mode offers clear step-by-step explanations and example images. Easily accessible through the mode dial found on top of the camera body, Guide Mode teaches you to set-up the camera, and shoot, view, delete or retouch images, as well as how to take portraits with background blur, freeze the action, or obtain clear shots in low light. Building confidence in budding photographers, Guide Mode makes it easy for anyone to learn how to master key features and controls, without ever needing to open the camera manual.
There are plenty of options for capturing fast-moving action with both Continuous shooting at up to 5 fps and D-Movie full HD video capability.
A variety of practical and innovative in-camera tools help to make the most of every shooting opportunity and ensure your pictures are captured to perfection. Some shots are so easy to miss but with the high-speed superior accuracy of the 11-point AF system the D3300 delivers razor sharp images by maintaining focus on even the smallest subjects, however unpredictable their movements may be. When facing extremely high-contrast lighting beyond the camera’s dynamic range, Nikon’s exclusive Active D-Lighting helps you maintain details in the highlights without losing them in the shadows. Composing beautiful images is made so much easier with Scene Auto Selector which automatically selects a scene mode suited to the shooting situation and subject. For added convenience, an icon of the selected scene mode, such as Landscape or Night Portrait, appears in the top-left corner of the LCD monitor.

One of my personal favourite features that isn't on the d3200 is a time mode, it's effectively bulb mode but you donut have to hold down the button, you just press it to start and press it to stop, this is great for astrophotographers, I was also very impressed with its ISO capabilities, as it goes from a standard 100 all the way up to high 1 (256,000 iso) I was impressed with how little noise it had from 100 all the way up to 64,000 iso.
Very versatile in photo modes
Good for astrophotographers
Good iso capabilities
Good for beginners
Has a panorama mode for extreme wide shots

My daughter has bought herself both a digital and digital SLR cameras in the past but they don’t seem to last due to faults developing or they just didn’t deliver what she wanted.
In all honesty I hadn’t intended on spending this sort of money but I sought the advice of our local professional photographer and the lovely lady advised me to buy either a canon or Nikon and recommended the lense requirements as she felt either would be good starter camera’s.
Further than that she didn’t advise and I went off to do my research and let me tell you my head was spinning with all the choices.
I read reviews on here, watched reviews on the web and went to sites that do comparisons once I had narrowed my choices down and frankly was almost pulling my hair out.
In the end and having completely thrown my original budget out of the window I decided on the D3300 as I felt that it had the edge.
I am not doing a technical review as the information spec and camera/accessories are in the listing and there are much more superior camera enthusiasts out there that will so I am giving the Joe Bloggs opinion.
The feel of the camera is good, its comfortable to hold and although isn’t too heavy it certainly isn’t flimsy.
Setting it up and attaching the lense was really straight forward and we like that it can be taken apart for transporting in a neat camera bag.Read more ›
I like the presets you get like landscape portraite starburst which can be used on photos after the event and you also have presets for field of depth, night etc from the menu. The guide that comes with this is also very user friendly.
Took me a while to get used to the fact you cannot check the aperture of the photo being taken ie shodow enhancements etc. my previous camera was capable of this which was a handy feature however the d3300 shows it as a permanent image when looking through the lens. just like int the old days when life was analog
