The optics of these binoculars are excellent, giving clear and precise definition.

The mechanics are also excellent. The eye piece and central focus wheels rotate easily and smoothly.

Given that they are gas filled and waterproof, for someone that enjoys the great outdoors you could not buy better at this price.

This is a first-rate pair of binoculars. Solid in the hand and comfortable to handle, and with great optics. I am absolutely delighted with them - apart from one tiny detail - the lens caps. They fit snugly but the ones for the front lens have a flimsy clip for fitting on to the strap; and they fall off when a mouse sneezes from 100 metres ! The eye-piece caps have no means of securing: it's just a matter of time before they disappear !

But don't let that put you off - the kit is great, and I am sure I can find replacement lens caps with a better spec.

Having used a set of compact binoculars for years, I finally decided to treat myself to a full size pair. I knew I wanted 10x magnification, but was uncertain whether to go for the 42 or 50 objective lenses, due to the weight factor. In the end, I decided to go for the 10 x 50. Having used them for about 4 months now, I can say that the lightweight materials and design mean that the extra weight is barely noticeable, but what a difference the larger lenses make. The image is so much brighter and sharper as a result.

I would recommend these to anyone contemplating a binocular purchase - they are still lighter than many other less powerful models with smaller objective lenses. They are also waterproof - an indispensable feature for the UK weather. The wide strap also means that you don't notice the extra weight around your neck either.

Two tiny gripes :

1. The lens caps can easily get lost
2. The eyepiece diopter adjustment tends to stiffen up, causing the binoculars to "fold up" when you try to rotate it while observing. If you rotate it a few times before focusing, it's no problem, and this may just be a feature of my pair, or that they are just new. My son has a pair of Nikon Travelite compacts, and these have a nice easy "click" mechanism foe eyepiece adjustment. A shame this feature is not on the Sporter EX. Nikon is a quality reliable brand, so you can buy with confidence.

Well worth the money, and if you look carefully on Amazon, you'll probably find that you can pick up the 10 x 50 cheaper than the 10 x 42.

Bargain.

We were looking for an 8x42 but we upgraded to the the 10x50 and we are so glad we did. It is ergonomically very comfortable and easy to use and has great viewing quality. As with the other reviews, we would agree that the quality of the lens caps really lets it down but we are happy to work around that little problem. Well worth the recommendation.

I received my Nikon sporter EX 10x50 rapidly by post....well done Amazon.
I found them a little bit long in length, and a little heavier than smaller ones.
The lens caps are light and flemsy... could be easily lost....... a pity really.
However for what I wanted them for, the size and weight was acceptable.
The fact there waterproof is excellent.....
However I really like them. easily focused and you get a very good clear image with them.
(which is the most important part)
I am pleased, quality of Nikon is very good and the image you view is clear and excellant.
Finally i must say they are value for money........
P.S. Pay particular attention to there weight and size when your ordering.
making sure they satisify in this regard for what you,ll be using them for.
Otherwise you will enjoy.........

Fabulous binoculars! I bought these as a present for my husband and was not disappointed. They are of very sturdy construction and, true to Nikon form, they offer a very clear picture.
I found these to be an absolute bargain for the price I paid and would definitely recommend these to anyone wanting a good quality pair of binoculars that will last a lifetime

these binoculars are very good for the price , with clear bright images and no distortion or flareing in bright light.i would recommend these binoculars to anyone looking for a reasonably priced quality waterproof 10 x 50 binocular. the only concern for some people might be weight at over 800gms but this is much the same as other makes for this magnification

These binoculars are reasonable for the price. They feel solid in the hand and they come with a decent strap and pouch. In general the view is clear, if slightly marred by colour fringes but that would be expected at this price point and magnification. The eye relief is good and the eyepiece extensions are solid. The individual eye corrector is firm and will stay as you set it over a long period. Focussing is quick, easy and accurate.

The only real negative is that the eye covers are simply not fit for purpose, they just will not stay on the binoculars. They fall off if you hold the binoculars upside down so they have no chance of staying in place on a long walk. As they don't have any attachment to the strap you are almost guaranteed to lose them. If you don't care about the eyepiece covers then these are 4 star binoculars.
