She has created all kinds of odd chapters like: 'Retro Rapido', 'Quick Quick Slow', 'Speedy Gonzales' and 'Hey Presto'. Basically this means that the whole book is a hotch potch of random recipes. For example, You'll be reading a recipe for Grilled Cheese and Slaw, turn the page and there is a Jumbleberry Crumble. Or looking at Turkey Tonnato only to find Sliced Peaches on the next page. This means that if you are looking for an inspirational main course (or any other course for that matter), you have to trawl through each chapter trying to weed out those particular recipes.
I also found that there are too many dessert recipes in there, to the detriment of main courses, which is what I really needed. Also, many of the recipes aren't that speedy because they don't contain staple larder items, rather a trip to the deli section of Waitrose would be required.
Book arrived early and in great condition with no signs of ware and tare. Some great recipes and the one's I have tried so far have all worked. Yum!. A great addition to anyone's collection and my already packed cookery book shelf. Thanks Nigella.
This was my first by Nigella and it's an absolute cracker. The book is full of wonderful recipes that you can do in say a half hr or so. Very easy to follow and beautifully illustrated. My wife has some firm favourites in there - Moroccan meatballs with pomegranate seeds...mmmm (may sound not nice but trust me - wonderful food when its cold outside). Having said that, as I think you have with all cookery books, there are recipes in there that are not attractive an so I can't see my wife using them. On the whole, we must have at one recipe or so each week - so a very worthwhile investment.
If you like cooking, and want a book that you can pick up and knock something together quickly - this is an ideal book for you.
It is lavishly produced with glossy pictures which have that Pavlov effect and recipes described effectively and succinctly. Fortunately, there is not the constant reminder of how inadequate the kitchen is in comparison with ... and we are still planning the walk-in pantry but that is not featured either.
It has many mouth-watering recipes and the enthusiasm of Nigella still inhabits the pages. We will not cook all the recipes, but there are a few favourites now.
