Recently got a Wii, and found online it that using a Component cable would give you a noticeably better picture than composite. If you are using a Wii on a modern HD TV, then this is a must. As soon as I plugged it in I could tell. Make sure you set it to 480p on the screen settings on your Wii, and if the colour looks weird you may have got the red mixed up as one is for audio and the other for video. You can tell this by the two plugs at the end are audio. Overall a massive difference and it is well made and there is no reason to buy the original Nintendo one...

Improves resolution but one colour doesn't come through

I wish I bought this earlier, the image quality increased substantially and not being interlaced it really means there is no flickering or "wave" effect on the images and text.
Definitively a good buy...
only issue I found is that my cable came with 6 rather than 5 plugs and no instructions (in theory is just a matter to plug the connection to the corresponding colored socket). There were two red plugs ... I plugged one of the two at random and it worked straight away.
But price versus function is really really good.
Highly recommended.

UPDATE: I am colour blind and albeit the resolution improves visibly (sharpness and flickering) when my daughter played the game it was apparent one of the colours would not show... The cable comes with no manual or indication on the connector what is what so after a few attempts I just concluded that I got a dodgy cable.

I recently upgraded from an older CRT widescreen TV to a new 42" plasma screen. The Wii coped well with the larger screen and provided a slight improvement in the display (using the existing 60Hz setting) rather than the pixellation that might have been expected. I purchased this cable primarily to make use of the various TV inputs and so reduce reliance on a scart router that I had been using to channel several devices into a single scart input. Not only was that a success but the cable also makes the Wii EDTV display setting accessible and the improvement in picture quality, particularly in terms of the level of detail, is significant and improves gameplay. As an example, I can now count the holes in the Animal Crossing watering can rose. As other reviewers have stated, this represents the best display that the Wii is capable of.

The cable is of a robust quality and colour coded to match the TV input so simple to connect and no instructions needed. If I were to suggest an improvement, the cable would benefit from being a bit longer for some users but in my case was perfectly adequate and I highly recommend this product in terms of usefulness.

Really the WII should come with one of these (as well as the Scart one it comes with)........... However as it didn't I begrudgingly purchased this as it was reasonably priced.

Arrived within 2 days. Plugged it in (make sure your TV can take the five plug component sockets - most new flat screens do). Set the box to the correct screen setting (easy to do) and it worked. Whilst the WII may not support HD, the cable worked well and the picture difference is noticable. Very good price, so there is nothing to loose in trying it. Its even 'freed' up one of my scart sockets so I dont have to go through a splitter box to share with my two other non HDMI scart devices I have (my TV has bundles of HDMI sockets but only a couple of SCARTS).

This product looks and operates exactly as described on Amazon and at this price I can't see why you'd buy the Nintendo version. The cable works perfectly for me, allowing me to use the 480p mode of the Wii connected to my new television. Graphics have improved slightly as expected. The cable itself has gold ends and is just under 2 metres long. Some reviewers have complained about problems with sound and/or picture using this cable but I think I agree with other reviewers who have suggested perhaps the two red cables have been mixed up in those instances as I've had no problems at all, plugged straight in and worked perfectly.

Absolute bargain, especially considering Nintendo charge £40 for the same cable - "maybe" the Nintendo is better quality, but for £3.48 you really cannot go wrong. I bought it from MemoryCapital as I've used them before and they are quick (my cable arrived in two days) and trustworthy - plus they ship from the UK, unlike a lot of other sellers; watch out for this as delivery takes weeks instead of days!

Cable is 1.8 metre in length, which they really ought to list somewhere (I emailed to get this info and had a quick reply), and fits great. My son was delighted with the improvement (compared to the three way Composite Cable) in picture quality - everything looks so much sharper than it did before. Just remember to select 480P (EDTV/HDTV) from the Wii Settings / Display menu - this is VERY important! Do not select 576i or 480i, it MUST be 480P if you want the best quality picture.

OK but not great

These are OK, work fine etc. but are not as per the photo. I bought from star e-shop and I would say the quality is as about the same as the freebie ones that you get with the Wii (only component rather than composite) - the wires are quite thin - there is even no distinction between the red audio and video connectors - you have to guess. They are however an improvement over composite (by nature of the technology component vs composite) and so for the money it is worth it, but they are not of the quality of the OEM product, so worth buying if you want a cheap upgrade, but spend more if you want the best that the Wii can deliver - specifically if you plan to make use of the web browser - better cables will render the text more readable
