Minus half a star because: I bought this to replace my Nexus 7 Wifi only device. Although technically the same device with just the additional sim slot, the device behaves slightly different which is annoying. One glaring difference is the screen brightness adjustment which on this new one which adjusts between bright and ever so slightly less bright whereas my original one the brightness adjusted from almost dark to full brightness. Now I have to use an app called Lux to do the job (and not as well)

Other than that and if I had not previously owned one before, I'd say that this device is a gem and I can't believe that it's now so hard to buy. I love it, it's the perfect size, not too heavy feels like good quality in terms of build. I have been searching for months for a 4G alternative to my nexus 7 wifi and I always came back to this one because everything just works and looks better than any other 7 inch brands that I tested in stores.

Another couple of things worth pointing out that I had trouble finding answers to:
- can you install WhatsApp? YES YOU CAN! Although you can't do it through the app store (download the apk from whatsapp and then use a phone to receive the activation code).
- can you have multiple user profiles? Yes you can, I currently run 3 and it's really easy to switch between them.

HALL OF FAMETOP 500 REVIEWERon 12 August 2014
Google have really nailed it... and the competition when it comes to practicality and affordability. Now I own various tablets, iPad air included, yet I have spent far more time using the Nexus 7 than any other.

The form factor and slim lightweight design means that it still is the most portable tablet on the market. Vibrant colours and a speedy quad core processor make for a very pleasant experience. Compatibility with third party hardware and pricing should serve as a wakeup call for Apple!!

Die hard iPad users might not like this review, yet let's be honest, how on earth can one justify the price difference between this device and a similarly spec iPad. As referred to earlier, I have the iPad too, and like certain unique features and the refined Apps, yet I am not really fond of the ageing icon layout. The Nexus screen on the other-hand is fully customisable sporting a myriad of widgets to suit anyone's taste.

There are many other android tablets hitting the market on a daily basis, but what sets this particular tablet apart are:
✓ Responsive 7.02inch, 1920X1200 IPS screen (323 ppi), delivering stunning image quality
✓ Zippy Qualcomm Snapdragon(tm) S4 Pro processor clocked at 1.5GHz with an Adreno 320 graphics processor which handles gaming seamlessly. (Major upgrades to the older Nexus)
✓ 4G LTE (backwards compatible) giving the fastest data over cellular performance
✓ 2GB RAM which is more than enough to handle the most demanding of applications
✓ Near field communication (NFC), enables devices to establish radio communication with each other by bringing them into close proximity. Very handy!
✓ Wireless Charging support via any Qi charger
✓ Long battery life. Up to 9 hours of continuous use
✓ Aggressive pricing

I will not delve further into the specs of this little gem, as these can be easily viewed on various websites. After all specs mean nothing unless they translate into a user friendly experience, which can be only appreciated when handling the tablet.

All I can say is that the Nexus 7 is a pleasure to use, with very fast loading webpages and applications. It definitely is a premium tablet and will win the hearts of many!

I love the Nexus 7 to bits!!! Just hit the buy button.... You won't be disappointed!!

I wanted one of these for when I go away cycling. It would be used to look for local places of interest such as pubs, camp sites bicycle shops etc however in use the device is rather tedious. It has a very small and fiddly on screen keyboard which is awkward to use even with a stylus, thus really needs a keyboard to be of any usefulness which would negate the purpose of having something so small and compact! Also this device could do with a mouse as using your fingers or a stylus is very fiddly the hole process just isn't tactile and I might as well bought a laptop. On a plus side the battery life is good and it has a quick recharge time.In the hands this device is slippery and awkward to hold so I recommend a good case for it to get a good grip.Overall this device will be useful in emergencies but in all honesty you are better off using available internet cafes,it useable but only just.It feels to me like a prototype or a gadget for kids or adult who like to show off their tech but could never replace a portable computer!

Fantastic. I got this because I wanted a reasonable Android device, preferably something that could slip in a pocket. I have an Ipad but this has tended to be the 'goto' device - it runs everything, seems as slick as the Ipad, and screen resolution is superb. This has exceeded my expectations in every way. I'd prefer this to an Ipad mini. Only concern is battery duration, but maybe I leave too much running. It does probably 4+ hrs of video but I need to plug in every night.

Good value. Easy to use. 3G works well (4G not available in my area) when WiFi not available. Relatively small screen not usually a problem but not ideal for viewing films! Touch screen sometimes a little unresponsive.

I bought this mainly to use as an e-reader, but with internet access, but I was disappointed. Having bought a Nexus 10 some time ago I was optimistic, but the 7 is not in the same class. The build standard (Asus) is nothing like as good, and the screen so insensitive and unresponsive as to make it most frustrating to use.

I've returned it and found the extra money for a Samsung instead. There are better small tablets out there, in particular there are bigger and better screens within the same overall dimensions.

I bought this a couple of weeks ago and have been delighted by it. I just wanted to confirm this is the UK version, which comes with a UK power adapter.
