A romantic comedy. When Erin Castleton (Hope Davis) is cruelly dumped by her boyfriend, her mother (Holland Taylor) places a wildly inaccurate personal ad in the local paper. Erin is at first enraged, but then becomes curious and agrees to a string of dates.
I love this film. Similar story to Sleepless in Seattle, in that the film focuses on two characters who are obviously meant to be together, and their seperate existances, for most of the film. But this film is far less saccharine, and the characters aren't cliched as in other rom-coms. the female lead isn't some annoying perky blonde. Well, she's blonde, but she's also cynical, and a bit grumpy. She seems like a real person basically. And the male lead is very likeable and charismatic.. The leads are both excellent - you really want them to find each other! It's a low-key film, but in a sweet and glowy way.
