Product Description

The Hoosiers release their brand new studio album 'THE NEWS FROM NOWHERE' on April 14th 2014.

The follow-up to top 10 albums 'THE TRICK TO LIFE' and 'THE ILLUSION OF SAFETY', the new album was produced by the band, and recorded in the East London warehouse where bassist Martin Skarendahl has amassed a collection of vintage recording equipment and instruments. The News From Nowhere is an astonishing return to form. “Doing it on our own terms,” says lead singer Irwin Sparkes, “and actually having a proper say in it, felt wonderful. We have nothing to lose, but a lot to prove.”

From the opening bars of 'Somewhere in the Distance' to the closing notes of 'Nathan's Loft', The News From Nowhere is the sound of a band who have rediscovered what they love about music, and why they need to make it together. Gone is the self-consciousness of the dog days around their second album; gone, too, the self-doubt. In their place is a deeply rooted – and hard-won – confidence, and a determination to lock back in to the freedom and joy of the early days.

If you're a fan of The Hoosiers then you'll love this. It is different from their two previous albums but it still has that catchy quirkiness about it. These songs are guaranted to get stuck in your head and you'll find yourself listening to it over and over. The wide range of songs will appeal to everyone, there's some brilliant tracks on here. I'm so glad that we're seeing more from this talented band!

I must admit Ive not been a massive fan of The Hoosiers before finding them just a little too 'poppy' for my usual tastes but having heard and been very impressed with 'somewhere in the distance' i took a look at the album and its actually really good. Whilst some songs do still retain the quirky pop they are known for eg Fidget Brain it somehow just works. Overall a much more mature sound, they are not trying 'too hard' and just made and enjoyed making the music with a variety of music sounds. make or break is also a cracking song.
Check it out, you wont be disappointed.
Oh, and apparently this is completely self funded by the band themselves which is a massively brave thing to try in this day and age so if you buy youll be sure the money is going to them not some fat cats in a billion pound record company.

:-)

Always been a huge Hoosiers fan. I even bought their 2nd album! This album is a little...different to their normal stuff. When I first heard it I was not incredibly happy with it, but after listening to it over the period of a week or so all I can say is that I LOVE IT. This might possibly be my favorite album, which makes me even happier when I found out that this is their first "indie" album after leaving sony due to issues with the 2nd albums promotion.

Another great album from the Hoosiers. Its got some new style sounds to it but with the unmistakable brilliance that is The Hoosiers. Each and every song is catchy and everything I'd expect from a naturally talented band. A-plus from me :-)

So very different from their previous work, but still so very Hoosiers! Might not be as 'simple' or 'light hearted' as past albums, but is much more mature and just as good. Fantastic.

really like their music. this album is a bit different from their last one but omg it's good. my only complaint is that it comes in a cardboard sleeve rather than a plastic case, so it doesn't go with the rest of my CD collection.
