About the Author

Author of a total of 14 self-help personal transformation, and professional development books. Deborah Nelson has been an entrepreneur for the past 25 years, and in recent years has turned her addiction to self help and exploration of spirituality into writing and teaching dream planning as a personal transformation and life skill. Ms. Nelson has run several small businesses and has a very practical and simple approach in her writing. Ms. Nelson is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin, and is a two-time nominee for Working Women's Entrepreneurial Excellence Award, as well as one of ten national finalist for Ms. Corporate America 2008, which honors professional and Entrepreneurial women. EDITORIAL REVIEWS "Great tool for establishing dreams suitable for junior high students through college and adult seekers. Positive affirmations and simple step by step activities make this a must have tool for those ready to plan for future, write a practical life plan, or even write a book!" Dr. Deborah De Vries, School Trustee and College Instructor Positively Transform Lives. This is a serious “self-help” formula that I believe could actually make a reader’s dreams come true, IF they seriously followed the instructions of the author. In my opinion, this book often reads like The Power of Now or A Course in Miracles—which one should consider as a “good thing.” After all, The Power of Now and A Course in Miracles did positively transform thousands of lives! —Amelia A. Painter, Author (Fostoria, IA USA) A Life-Changing Course! Deborah S. Nelson’s course, Author Your Book, which uses the Author Your Reality Text along with the Author Your Book Workbook, was fantastic! The material was easy and straightforward. There is a 10 step ‘author your reality’ process she takes you through which can be applied to manifesting any dream, I suppose. However, my dream was to become an author. I have 5 books in the making that I’ve never completed. Through this course I finally finished and published my very first book! What a rush. What a dream come true. I now have many of the skills, the courage and the inspiration to continue onward and upward! I took this class in person, however you can do it from your home. Everyone in her class published their own book in 8 weeks. I give a big two thumbs up for this course work. Get both the text and the workbook, as they’re a set. —Cindy M. White, Author, The Ripple Effect Game (Santa Barbara, CA)

5.0 out of 5 stars Dream Big 17 Jun. 2015

Nelson’s “Introduction to Dream Planning” works from a simple premise: “Those who write goals, visions, and dreams achieve them 20-to-one over those who don’t.” Basically, in order to be successful in all aspects of life, we should consistently make time to dream about our goals, to catalog these dreams, and to cultivate their idea in our mind throughout our life. It is a simple idea that most of us have heard in some form or another; yet, how many of us have actually followed this plan? Nelson’s book is an excellent introduction to this concept and gives practical strategies and logical support for her ideas. The four sections—Conceive, Believe, Receive, and Achieve—walk you through the stages of positive thinking that will help you achieve the seemingly-impossible goals you have. If it sounds a bit cliché, you are in similar company, but I am convinced after reading it that “dream planning” has noticeable positive consequences and I am more than willing to try it.

In addition to the wisdom of the author, I appreciated the quotations from great people like Thoreau, Byron, and Christ, as well as the suggestions for further reading. Indeed, the author supplies an entire few pages at the end just for additional resources. From these sections alone, I discovered useful books like The Power of Now, and a curious and informative documentary called “What the Bleep Do We Know?” These suggestions add a layer of integrity to the claims of dream planning and make the read that much more interesting. Great formatting and organization, a dictionary of terms, and “Key Points to Remember” sections give the book professional polish and make it stand out from the normal wear from newer authors.

For a few dollars and a short afternoon of reading, “Introduction to Dream Planning” is definitely worth your time. And who knows, you may just find that your dream is to write a few books like Mrs. Nelson—a dream that is certainly within the realm of possibility.
