I cannot imagine how any Newcastle fan who has been following events over the last few years would find anything interesting or revelatory in this book.
The wider relevance of the book, however, comes from the insightful observations on how a top flight club should operate to be successful in the modern game. Cassidy's prescription of how clubs with ambition to sustain Premiership status and high achievement on the pitch should be owned, managed and operated is intelligent and well-argued.
Fans will enjoy it but it should be required reading for the owners, managers and regulators of today's game.
Updated to incorporate the momentous events of the past two seasons, this is the most intelligent football book I have ever read - revealing, insightful, entertaining, prescriptive, with a statgic blueprint for success in the Premier League.
If you love Newcasltle United or you love football, or you want to know how it should be run, you must read this book.
I can recommend this book to any fan as it is clearly written by a dedicated and committed supporter of a club that we all love and it is an easy read. A few pictures might have been a good idea but otherwise very pleased with my purchase.
