Kat says:
I am primarily a chick lit reader, but would like some recommendations for a new genre of book - something along the lines of a really good story, either extremely moving and sad, or something inspirational, something that I am not going to want to put down - probably something similar to the stories of The Kite Runner or Three Cups of Tea. Just think it might be time to broaden my reading horizons!!

A Tree Grows in Brooklyn -Betty Smith (an older book but enjoyable)
A Fine Bablance -Rohinton Mistry -a classic book , both sad and moving
The Poisonwood Bible-barbara kingsolver
hope this helps.
