From the Inside Flap
bouncy rhyme about shopping for new shoes.
A little girl has to get a pair of new shoes that suit her perfectly. One shoe, two shoes, I need new shoes! Off I go to the new shoe store! But its not always easy to find exactly the right ones -- several shops and much shoe inspection later, our charming (but choosy) heroine finally agrees on a pair.

The words are so memorable that we sometimes walk down the street, and with each step, recite a line from the book (i.e., one shoe, two shoes, I need NEW shoes!!!). My daughter is 2 1/2 and she and I recommend it heartily.
This book tells the story of a little girl looking for a 'special' pair of shoes. She takes a trip around town looking in all the shoe shops, until finally finding a wizard who can make her the perfect pair of shoes.
We managed to track it down in the absence of knowing its name, purely because my 5 year old could remember how the book starts...''One shoe, two shoes, I need new shoes, off I go to the new shoe store. I say to the lady, 'I need new shoes', she says 'What do you need them for?'' We loved the powerful but simple rhyme, which made it very easy to remember.
We have had hours of fun arguing over which of the hundreds of pairs of illustrated shoes we like 'best', and marvelling at how magical shoes are in vast numbers. Most little girls (and some little boys!) love new shoes, and so they can very quickly take this book to their hearts.
This is the kind of book that you can't fail to love, and I'll be keeping it for my children to pass to their children, we love it THAT much. In the meantime, PLEASE re-print!!!!!!!!!!!!
