For the most part there are two types of Metal fans, those that like Testament and those who haven't heard much Testament. Obviously there are a few exceptions, but it illustrates a point, Testament are the kind of band to make loyal fans out of the vast majority of people who listen to them. Should you be reading this and wondering whether or not to try out Testament, I would strongly recommend that you do as you will almost certainly become a life long fan.

Its pretty difficult to argue with The New Order really, any album that contains 'Into The Pit,''Disciples of the Watch,' and 'The Preacher,' is pretty much guaranteed, to put a smile on the face of any right minded metal fan, being as they are three of the absolute best Thrash Metal songs ever recorded. Should you be in any doubt as to whether or not to buy this album, then listen to any one of those songs, which will likely provide you with the all the convincing necessary.

To be considered anything other than wonderful whilst containing the aforementioned tracks, the album would have to be pretty damn poor for the rest of the run-time and thankfully The New Order is anything but poor. The album opens with the effective 'Eerie Inhabitants,' a straight up Thrash number with a clean beginning for added interest, contains a number of pummeling thrash classics, two relatively interesting instrumentals and a heavied-up Areosmith cover to prevent the album being too repetitive.

Overall, the music is hard and direct Thrash Metal, with enough variety to escape tedium while still remaining true to the formula. The vocals as always are top quality and the level of musicianship is very high. There is a reason this album keeps turning up in lists of The Greatest Metal Albums Of All Time after all.

If you have an interest in Thrash Metal then you really should check out Testament, and The New Order is a very good album to try.

A band that should have been number 4 in my opinion solid thrash with enough variety unlike some thrash albums that are good but all the songs are the same format and tempo. So if by some bizarre chance you like thrash but haven't heard testament then think early metallica without sounding like copy cats and a singer who can really sing. The vinyl is a lot better so if you have a record player or really love music treat yourself and start buying vinyl for true listening pleasure unlike cds. I own it on cd also for my phone.

'The New Order' is an amazing album. Simple as. In my opinion, better than there amazing debut album 'The Legacy'. Every track is great (exept the instrumentals, but they are good when listening to the album as a whole.) Even there cover of Aerosmith's 'Nobodys Fault' is a great track. In my books, better than the original. Testament have released so many good albums that its hard to pick a top one but I would defiently recomend this to someone who's just discovered the band. 5/5 with ease!!!

The New Order is argubly one of the best thrash albums ever released in the 80s, however, the prestige of this ass-kicking album is still not in a technical capacity of defeating Mustaine fronted Megadeth. Surely the New Order is as good as any of those gold statued albums produced by Megadeth, but if Testament has somebody who can see a big piture like James Hetfield in Metallica, Scott Ian of Anthrax, Kerring King of Slayer, and of course Dave Mastaine of Megadeth, their ending would be very different! Nevertheless, testament is still one of my favourite thrash acts in the 80s, I don't normally make any trade-off between one band and another, because I respect all those freaks, who possess the most feared instrumental dexterity as well as the capability to compose the technically demanding musical genre that very few people could ever contemplate!

This album is simply brilliant. What makes this album, and indeed Testament's debut 'The legacy' stand out is the absolutely solid rhythm guitar work (especially compared to lead-heavy bands like slayer). New order has more pronounced vocals/ better production and even moshier riffs than the Legacy. Ok, it's not the most consistent of albums (2 or the 10 tracks are instrumentals, and 'trial by fire' isn't great), but the remaining 7 tracks more than make up for it.
This is one of the top 5 greatest thrash albums of all time, along with Reign in blood, Master of puppets, Rust in peace and Beneath the remains, SO BUY IT NOW!!
