It's simply a diet of 6 meals per day that aims at a balanced diet with supplements (protein). Has some interesting nutrition advice as well as some exercise suggestions

I didn't like it so much as it didn't add anything "new" to my habits, but if someone is used to eat junk food and has little notions on how to eat in a balanced way, this book is a good start.

Like any other eating plan, if one expect results, one must be willing to work out with commitment.

Not recommended for those with sorth of particular diets like gluten-free, vegetarians, etc...

i brought this book back in january and only now do i think its time to write a review.i decided to get back in the gym and start to eat healthier and i basically followed the abs diet for what to eat.i didn't however follow the exercise program to the same format but had some personal training which set me up my own program.at only 5ft 6 inches i weighed 12st 10lbs back in january and now 7 months later i now weigh 10st 9lbs.my whole body has changed with muscles everywhere and can honestly say iv'e never felt better.i still don't have the six pack abs the book promises to give you but i do have a flat stomach with the abs almost ready to show.don't expect everything to happen within a month.if you follow the basic rules of what to eat you will see fantastic results and can honestly say i have smoothies everyday.i also have read the book over and over to keep reminding myself why i'm doing it.for the money this book will cost it is a must have if you really are serious about getting fit and once you get into it you will not want to eat bad foods.has to be 5 stars for me even though i still don't have the six pack i'm well pleased with the book.could go on and talk about this book forever but is a must have in my opinion

I enjoy following the Abs Diet which is really a long-term sensible eating plan rather than a weight-loss regime. The food is very healthy, and concentrates on developing muscle while cutting the fat. It includes an exercise programme that can easily be done at home with a couple of hand weights or in the gym. The New Abs Diet book has some extra science in it, but the diet itself remains fundamentally the same. Also, this book 'for Women' is not that much different than the standard Abs Diet book. However, if you haven't bought your copy yet, I would recommend this to anyone who has had enough of the low-fat or low-carb plans. The Abs Diet strikes a sensible middle way between these two, and combined with the exercise has really helped me shape up. I don't feel I'm on a diet, but I do feel that I've been given excellent guidelines for a lifetime of healthy eating that will keep me fit for life.

Its not an overly big improvement on the original book, while it does offer some great advice a lot of time is spent on other peoples success stories and a rather shallow recipe section, I would have much preferred it the other way round.
If you're looking to improve your eating habits and eat a much leaner, cleaner diet this could be the starting point for you. It gives a lot of insight as to the reasons why different foods react differently with your body and advises on what you should eat and when.
Unfortunately for me its 6 meals a day approach doesn't fit around my lifestyle (12 hour days with only time for 1 meal while at work).

This is a brilliant book, that definitely works. It's full of Americanisms though: US food and cultural references throughout. There's now a UK version available at the men's health UK website in their books section. It makes for much easier reading.
