About the Author
Ron Wodaski wrote his first how-to book in the early 90s, and finally realized he was nuts about astronomy 10 years later. He bought a telescope, started imaging with some of the very first CCD cameras available. When he could not find a reference book on the subject, he wrote his own. Today, Ron is director of the Tzec Maun Foundation, which provides free access to telescopes to students over the internet.

Ron Wodaski writes in simple clear language, but does not shirk from using (and describing) technical terms. Within the first 20 pages of this book, I had learned the real definitions of several terms commonly used, but not explained, by other publications.
Refreshingly, the book uses plain English to describe in detail how to get the best out of your CCD/Telescope set up: if you are only at the stage of considering such purchases, Mr. Wodaski gives invaluable advice which could save any reader a small fortune by ensuring matched equipment is purchased first time.
The book is divided into chapters, each of which address an aspect of CCD imaging, ranging from a simple introduction, to advanced CCD image manipulation techniques.
As a bonus, the purchase of the book also gives the buyer a subscription to Mr. Wodaski's web site, which contains updates to the book, CCD images, some in colour, of the pictures contained in the publication, and several utility programmes which are extremely useful to the CCD astronomer, as well as tutorials, discussion groups and more!
My only critisism is that all the book's images are in black and white, which does detract a little from them.
If you are going to buy a book on CCD imaging, this is the one to get!
I have bought many books on CCD imaging - I wish I had seen this book first - I could have saved a great deal of money
After having bought another book on astrophotography which was very disappointing (sorry Sir Patrick)...this was a breath of fresh air...hopefully with clear skies!
Get it and start learning.
I looked on Amazon for a book on Astro imaging and came across The New CCD Astronomy book by Ron Wodaski and am I glad I did it covers all I needed to know about CCD imaging. Once you pick it up to read you will not want to put it down again.
