Product description

From the Author

I was very touched by some of the readers reviews about Never Look Back and felt I had to thank all those who took the trouble to write them. A writer spends a great deal of time in 'solitary' its the nature of the business, but when my readers opinions mirror what I was feeling while I was writing it, I know I have suceeded in what I set out to do. I often look at the amazon reviews when I'm feeling glum or worst still when I think I'm losing the plot. But then your voices come to me, and its like being given a hug. And I go back to what I'm working on with new heart.
So please don't stop telling me what you think. Good or bad, it's my life blood. x x x

This is Gill Jennings, not Peter Jennings - we share Kindle stuff. I LOVE everything that Lesley Pearse writes but this one was utterly outstanding! I adored all the characters, especially Mathilda Jennings (coincidence of name only). What inspiring characters this author develops and you get a really interesting history lesson at the same time. I found it sad that Lesley chose to kill off so many of her characters on the way, but I guess that's the way it was back in the late 1800's. I have read this book twice now, with a few years gap between "reads". I have no doubt I will read it again one day.

Lesley Pearse's attention to detail never ceases to amaze me. Her meticulous research on 19th-century America has resulted in a really captivating tale of a young Victorian flower seller who, despite her humble background, moves across the Atlantic and climbs out of poverty through sheer hard work.

I'm very eager to work my way through Lesley's back catalogue as she is one of my favourite writers. This is the 11th book of hers I have read, and I would say that this is probably one of her best.

Absolutely loved this book. Its the 2nd time I've read it, I love how in her novels there is sometimes factual history. Loved the main character I was with her all the way. There no heavy violence or graphic sex scene just good writing descriptions and fantastic story telling.

A very well written book. Full of adventure from the slums of London through to primrose hill over to New York and across the Wild West to San Francisco. The story of a determined, smart and generous woman and all the good she brought throughout her life. Mostly a story of grit and determination in face of tragedy

I read this years ago when it was first published. It is still as good as I remember. The research of the American civil war is heartbreaking and I loved all of the characters, especially Matty. You have to read this. Life is possibly to short to read the same book twice, but not in this case. Thankyou Lesley

Loved this book. A big fan of Lesley Pearse,I downloaded this one and was hooked within a couple of chapters. Cleverly written and with some twists and turns I had not expected - this shows that even when one has ready many of this writer's books she can still surprise. I had various plots and endings in mind when I started this, and was wrong which was a nice surprise. Would definitely recommend it - I always feel that Lesley's novels must be incredibly well researched. Absolute respect for this lady.
