This is a first read by this author for me and it didn't disappoint, the story has real emotional issues but it's very well written and you really were able to understand where the characters were coming from and I found them very likeable. I would highly recommend this book.
Well this book has all but ruined me!! Never Look Back is the first book in the Counting Stars series by Trish Williford and if this story is anything to go by it’s going to be one emotional roller-coaster of a series! I’m almost in tears now just thinking back over the book and thinking about what to write! This is also my first read of any of this authors work and it just blew me away completely – amazing writing!
I knew as soon as I started this book that it was going to fall into the ‘can’t put down’ category but I didn’t realise it would be impossible to stop reading it until it was over. I think it was because not only was it a great story with amazing characters but it was just so well written and had such a beautiful flow to it that it was so easy and effortless to read. It was written so beautifully that I honestly felt as if I was reading about someone’s actual life – it was so raw and heart-breaking in parts.
So a little bit about the story! Although Kelsey moved 2600 miles away from her past it still doesn’t help the nightmares. She finds herself in Vancouver as a personal assistant for Spencer Mills, leading actor in Canada’s #1 TV drama, Counting Stars. Unfortunately for Kelsey, Spencer’s attitude leaves a lot to be desired. She soon realises though that he is also dealing with personal issues. They both had walls built around their hearts but it doesn’t take long for Spencer’s walls to start crumbling. Kelsey knows that she needs to start over and so slowly allows Spence into her world. It only takes one thing though to send Kelsey’s new world into a spin.
I just loved Kelsey’s character – what she went through in her past and her pure strength she had to survive and try and build a new life for herself alone made her inspirational for me. Unfortunately I know there are probably many people for whom this situation is real and my heart goes out to them. I cried when I read some of Kelsey’s experiences. It’s awful that one human thinks that that kind of behaviour towards another person is acceptable.
Now Spencer – oh Spencer! My heart now belongs to him! Talk about swoon-worthy!!! I don’t think Kelsey could have asked for someone better to show her that she does deserve to be in a happy and safe relationship and that they all not like previous ones.
I think it’s only fair to point out that there are scenes of domestic abuse and therefore may be a trigger for some readers.
I honestly loved this story, I loved the characters and I loved the way it was written – 100% one of my favourite reads this year. I can’t wait to read the next book in the series which is Ryleigh’s story.
Becca has been through a awful time in her marriage it's started of beautiful her and Wyatt were high school sweethearts in deep love but events happened that changed Wyatt from this sweet devoted loving husband to this cruel abusive angry man, he would take out all his angry outburst out on Becca and use her as his punching bag it's heartbreaking for Becca because she feels like she can't leave him and she can't tell anyone so she sufferers for years until a severe event happens and she finally able to get away. This is were life change for Becca she is now known as Kelsey where she meets new people but how long van she keep the secrets hidden cause she know it's incredibly dangerous to let anyone know what happened and she don't want to see anyone hurt. Becca /Kelsey is such a sweet loveable character considering what she has even through she still try to stay strong even with the nightmares and flashbacks even the anxiety she still keeps fighting. Her story is amazing but do she find her happy ending she deserves.

here goes nothing.
When you have lived a life or a marriage with severe abuse you lose faith, trust, ability to love and self worth. You feel like no one loves you and you are scared to death to run in fear of him or her finding you. Believe me it is hard, I have been there. There is people to help you. You are scared to reach out. I know the feeling. Make that call and reach out to someone. That one call may save your life.
Kelsey had a perfect marriage until one day things changed. Her husband, Wyatt, became abusive and almost killed her. She ran as fast as she could and tried to not look back. A safety checkpoint saved her life. Marcus, a detective, became her friend and her savior.
She went under a protection program and she got help for herself. She was sent to Vancouver, where she met her new best friend Ryleigh. She was there for Kelsey through thick and thin. She even helped her land a wonderful job as an assistant to an actor, Spencer. She does her best by fighting off the love that is growing for him..She has flashbacks and nightmares from her past. She holds on tight to the one that makes her feel safe, Spencer.
Spencer was every woman's dream. But he is also fighting demons. When he meets Kelsey for the first time he falls for her and knows that there will be no one else for him..But what he doesn't realize is that Kelsey is a lot of baggage. But that doesnt stop him from loving her.
10 stars for Never Look Back!!!!
This story is about a girl who had a normal life until things got turned upside down. Despite everything, she wanted to love her husband for the person she knew he could be. But sometimes, we have to learn to love ourselves instead. Her second chance didn't come easy. Between triggers, sacrifices, and self-discovery, she slowly began to live and love again.
With a past that will break your heart, and a present that will mend it, I hope that you discover a little of yourself in her journey. I hope that anyone going through any amount of abuse will read this and realize that we all deserve a happy ending. We are worth it, and we are stronger than we give ourselves credit for. I hope you find the courage to see that even though a new beginning seems like the darkest, scariest place, it can become the most beautiful life you've ever known. I don't know when I'll find my Spencer, but I found my Ryleigh. She wrote me this book, and I can never thank her enough for how she's changed my life.
I also hope when you finish this book, you'll be as excited for Ryleigh and Collin's story as I am! It's going to be amazing.
Never Look Back by Trish Williford
Escaping an abusive husband, Kelsey Franklin leaves everything and everyone she knows behind and moves to Vancouver Canada for a fresh start. Her new roommate/best friend is Ryleigh. Ryleigh works as a PA for the star of a TV show and gets Kelsey a job. Kelsey works Spencer Mills who is on a #1 rated show called Counting Stars. When she first meets Spencer, Kelsey finds him to be rude and obtuse and a downright jackhole.
Spencer is trying to move past a live altering – unexpected – divorce from his movie star wife. He drinks too much, is moody and depressed and is just downright miserable.
Kelsey and Spencer are drawn to each other in a way that neither can explain. Each believes their scars run so deep that they can never move on. Kelsey has nightmares and constantly relives her past and Spencer’s heart is cracked.
This book had me crying at certain parts and laughing in others. I enjoyed the story and look forward to reading about Ryleigh and Collin.
If you are in an abusive relationship, please reach out and tell someone. Don’t keep it a secret. There are people who can help. You are NOT alone, even though it may feel like it at this very moment.
