This goes against everything you try to teach your kids about table manners but they love it - my 4-year-old twins know the text off by heart and recite it loudly and often. They particularly like the burgers bouncing off the door ('what if someone wanted to come through the door?' asks Hannah with glee). The rhymes make it fun to read, and it's quite short so adults won;t get bored!

This book is one of the best buys I have ever made. My 2 year old son LOVES it and I read it at least 5 times a day to him!!! He knows the rhyming text so well that he can read the story back to me just by looking at the pictures. A thoroughly naughty but fun book and I would definitely recommend it!

Never Use a Knife and Fork has brought much laughter into our house! Our son, who is just over two absolutely loves it. It is really silly and what better than a nonsense book to catch their imaginations? After numerous readings, he could recite the end of each line, before acting it out and then 'reading' it himself. It has great, lively illustrations and fun rhyme. I cannot imagine a child not enjoying hearing it over and over again. And don't worry, we haven't had him refusing to use his knife and fork for real!

Only bought this because my 3 year old adores Nick Sharrat, so I tend to buy anything he has written and/ or illustrated. Perhaps my son is to young to understand but this book (although funny) imo can influence you gets to play with their food and throw it etc, as that is what the book is based on.

Bought as a present for a 3 1/2 year old girl. She had just been taught how to use a knife and fork by her parents, and was super pleased with herself. I just saw this book and thought it would be super-appropriate for her. We also love Neil Goddard and Nick Sharratt stories and have several already. The girl in question loves this book and makes her parents read it all the time.

We got this one out a the library and loved it so much that we bought it! The book can be read in rhyme and the illustrations are bright, clear and colourful. It's a little short but allows one to read 2 stories and the little ones don't feel short changed :o)

One of my 3 year olds favourite books, he knows it off by heart!
He loves how silly it is, 'bounce your burgers off the door' is his favourite bit!

It has the same great rhyming style and illustrations as Neil's other books.

my grandchildren loved this book....just eating with fingers is a delightful naughty idea for them ...the best bit for them was that the parents were also eating with fingers very messily. They laughed a lot, and loved the rhyming sentences, easy to repeat and remember. Very enjoyable.
