Even though Catherine didn't have HD her whole life has been effected by its devastation. This book shows if HD is in your family, whether you have the faulty gene or not you can't escape the emotional impact.

Loved reading this book. It made me laugh, smile and sad. A very nice read with a lot of detail. The author put so much of herself into the story. Liked the way she wrote about psychological effects of the unknown. I am looking forward to her next book.

Fictionalised account of the struggle faced by those who have a family history of a fatal genetic illness and some of the complex and the two-edged sword that dangles over them when deciding whether to be tested and know their potential fate or to live in ignorance, but always looking over their shoulder. As much an exploration of other people's attitudes to it as well - things always seem simpler when you're not the one making the choices, and it emphasised very much the importance of empathetic support, both from family and friends - and the respect that needs to be afforded to those making the choices.

Very readable and although there was always an inkling about the outcome, it was quite a tough look at family life but also encouraged a positive perspective for the individual. Not a "feelgood" book, in the normal sense, but a touching and well written book with an unusual core subject.

Although a work of fiction you can tell the emotions in it are real. It's not often I cry at a story but I did for this one.
