Fictionalised account of the struggle faced by those who have a family history of a fatal genetic illness and some of the complex and the two-edged sword that dangles over them when deciding whether to be tested and know their potential fate or to live in ignorance, but always looking over their shoulder. As much an exploration of other people's attitudes to it as well - things always seem simpler when you're not the one making the choices, and it emphasised very much the importance of empathetic support, both from family and friends - and the respect that needs to be afforded to those making the choices.

Very readable and although there was always an inkling about the outcome, it was quite a tough look at family life but also encouraged a positive perspective for the individual. Not a "feelgood" book, in the normal sense, but a touching and well written book with an unusual core subject.

Loved reading this book. It made me laugh, smile and sad. A very nice read with a lot of detail. The author put so much of herself into the story. Liked the way she wrote about psychological effects of the unknown. I am looking forward to her next book.

Although a work of fiction you can tell the emotions in it are real. It's not often I cry at a story but I did for this one.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully written 13 Jun. 2013

A story about life, loss, abuse, struggles, achievements, friendship and love. Sit back and spend some time with Catherine as she moves forward with her decision to be tested for a debilitating disease that took the life of her mother and that Cat has spent her life wondering if she inherited. She will make you cry, laugh, smile, worry and cheer on as she confronts her past and the dysfunction of her family and moves toward her future with good friends and a new man in her life. You cannot put the book down because you have to know how the story is going to turn out. Don't skip the Author's Note at the end. It will truly touch your heart.

5.0 out of 5 stars Words to live by... 19 Aug. 2013

I am thankful to have discovered this book. I am even more thankful to have had an opportunity in which I was able to read it unhurriedly and become fully immersed in the words as they offered to me a life changing perspective.

The book follows Cat as she relives past life struggles to include abuse, poverty, abandonment, death all in search of a closure so that she can finally plan and LIVE her future. Her strength will astonish you. Her humor will have you in stitches. Her past will break your heart. Her present will have you green with new love envy. And her journey will force you to even identify what is truly important in life.

I am still lingering in my memories of these well written chapters! I look so forward to the next release from this author!

5.0 out of 5 stars I Would Read it Again 23 Jun. 2014
By Melissa G - Published on Amazon.com

We all know our days are numbered, but very few of us live with a death sentence hanging over their head. If there was a chance you had a fatal disease, would you want to know? This book touches on medical ethics, but it is so much more. Although the book was set in more or less current times, flashbacks take us back to a childhood filled with pain, poverty, and deprivation. Seeing the way Catherine Cannon grew up helps us understand the choices she makes today. Great book.
5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely Amazing! 6 Jun. 2013
By Lucky Reader - Published on Amazon.com

"Never Ending Dance" is a wonderful story depicting the life of a strong and courageous woman who overcame a tragic childhood, yet is still haunted by memories of her past and the uncertainty of her future. We follow Catherine through her journey as she comes face to face with her past, present, and future fears, and prepares for results that will be life altering. I found myself identifying with Catherine in just the first few pages. I laughed and cried and stayed up entirely too late as I was anxious to discover more about Catherine's past and to find out what fate has in store for her! Many times in life, we need to be reminded to be thankful for what we have and that our journey in life is what helps us become who we are. This book did exactly that. No matter the skeletons that might be lurking in our closets or paths we wished we hadn't taken, the road to where we are going is as important as our arrival to our destination.
5.0 out of 5 stars Never Ending Dance 13 Jun. 2013

This story was written with such grace and with delicate, careful attention to visit the pain and complexities of a dysfunctional family, that it was hard to put down. A family is in torturous trouble because of alcohol addiction, and also the tragic "dance" of a genetic disease, one for which there is no cure. The main character is dwelling on the edge of a wonderful relationship, but hesitant to step in full heartedly to accept the love of her life unless she can come to him with a "clean bill of health". It is a love story, a page turner with laugh-out-loud places, close friendships, irritating characters, yet also those characters that make it easy to imagine a life with them at your side. Whatever you do, do NOT read the end of the story...it builds to such an emotional crescendo, you will find yourself totally involved and holding your breath to see how things evolve. This is a worthy read!
