My father reads this book and told me frequently how fascinating the Netherlands is.
My family stems back over 500 years in south Africa and before that the Netherlands and its nice to see what time of history they lived.
Its a nice short to medium book that's a nice read.

Thanks for this, might steal it to read in a couple of days time.

Bought this for my daughter who is married to a Dutchman. On scanning the contents, he was so impressed he insisted on reading it first. 'Nuff said?

an interesting book but I don`t like the cream paper; it is not helpful for anyone who has reduced vision.

I was hoping this book would be a good primary book to use as an introduction to the history of settlers to the US for college level. Primary indeed! I would call this book better suited to an elementary school class or library. Very disappointed considering the price. I would not recommend this book unless you can find it for under $5 used.

1.0 out of 5 stars OLD Netherlands in a Nutshell is superlative! 26 Nov. 2013

Actually I was trying to make a 5-star rating but as soon as I clicked on the first star I got dumped onto the Amazon website! I liked the book very much. Actually I got it by mistake, I was trying to order "NEW Netherlands in a Nutshell."
But I liked this so much I decided to keep it. Will order the other when I get some spare cash....I have a niece who is married and living in the Netherlands, and she has two boys in school there, so I was doubly interested since it gave me a taste of what they're learning in school.
