No discernable difference in picture quality, no lag at all (the output from it is going into my main every day PC monitor, so that I can swap it amongst all those devices) so if it was an issue you can be sure i'd be noticing it.
It's one of those bits of hardware that just sits there doing its job and you barely remember it's there - which is spot on, really good unit and i'm glad I got it, it solved the problem I had perfectly.
Now for the next part. If you’re using this with a PC, there are some quirks.
I got this in the first place because I wanted to connect both a TV and a monitor to my PC at the same time. But I didn’t want to extend the displays, I wanted them duplicated. Windows will only output audio via one device at the same time. If you want to use your TV and get audio out of it, you have to go into the settings and change the audio output. Then if you go back to the monitor, you’d have to do the same thing to get audio from your computer speakers. Not seamless. That’s where this device comes in. With this the audio from your PC can be set to HDMI TV. Then you can plug your headphones (or speakers) into the headphone out jack, or stereo RCA (or both). That then eliminates the need for manually changing settings because there’s always simultaneous audio. Great. But here is where another problem arose. And that is a synch issue which is introduced by this box.
From my PC, I have plugged my monitor with DVI, and then the TV with HDMI. That gives me a picture on both. If I turn my TV off, or change input or channels on my TV, as far as the graphics card is concerned, nothing has changed and it’s still connected to it. But with this box, if I change inputs on my TV, the screen on the monitor blacks out for a couple of seconds before it resynchs. That’s because the computer is now technically connected to this device and not the TV directly. And it seems this box doesn’t handle a change like that very well and loses synch. Not a huge problem at first. It will resynch after a few seconds. But the real issue is when you're playing a game, or watching a video. The synch issue throws this device completely off. If I am playing a game, and a decide to watch TV, or flick through the channels for a moment, and then go back to the computer input, the screen is either completely black, or the resolution is totally messed up. And there’s no way to get out of this unless you tab out, and back in again. And it will do this on BOTH the TV and the monitor at the same time. This does not happen when I remove this box out of the chain. That makes it problematic to use. Bit of a shame. But there's a solution involving the use of another device.
To make this process totally seamless, plug HDMI out from the computer to this device. Then instead of going directly to the TV, plug device into a HDMI switcher. Then from the switcher to the TV. This eliminates synch issues because this device thinks it’s always connected to something even if an input is physically changed on the TV. However even this is not straightforward. Most switch boxes act as simple passthrough devices. So they won’t work. This was tried with several such splitters and switches. Out of 7 of them, only 2 worked because of the way they handle the switching and buffering of the signal.
Those devices are:

EDIT: I previously recommended the following, however I no longer do as they seem to be very hit and miss, some versions of them do, some don't, and there's no way to
DO NOT use this one:
Esyinic 2 way HDMI splitter (https://www.amazon.co.uk/Amplifier-Distributor-Compatibility-Compliant-Projector-Blue-x/dp/B071HBC92N/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF8&qid=1545016387&sr=8-5&keywords=esynic+hdmi+splitter)
You don’t need both devices. Any one will do. But those are the only two that seem to synch properly. Even variations and generic versions of those boxes did not work.
For simple HDMI audio extraction, this device works. But for a more complicated set up, you may need additional devices in your chain for a seamless experience.
Many thanks to Neoteck for their exceptional customer service. The first box I ordered failed after a few weeks. I purchased it directly from Amazon. But they were kind enough to send me a replacement promptly, even though I didn’t buy it from them directly. The second device is working flawlessly. Excellent customer service.
initial, it worked well, good sound, easy to use (basically its plug and play) didnt need to run any power adaptor, the HMDI lead powered it.
Now its useless - it wont allow headphone conection via the dedicated socket due to poor internal components - it 'pushes' the headphone jack out (i have tried several sets of 'phones , so its the jack port NOT the phones) of the socket to the extent that you physically have to hold it in place, with the sound fluctating badly due to movement in the socket.
I wouldn't buy it again.
There is also a very bright red LED light next to the volume control, so it's only really useful if you can hide it behind the TV or furniture. The other aspect to consider is that sound is put out through all the outputs simultaneously, so my TV and 5.1 amplifier both play sound at the same time. Simply turn down the TV if you don't want sound slightly out of sync.
A good product, but not as good as what was advertised and therefore doesn't fit my needs fully.
If you dont need HDR but need 4K then this is perfect. Neoteck sell another version that does have HDR and much cheaper (currently £17)
