As a story, Whitaker sets up a range of different threads which are then brought together, largely successfully. The ending is a little overcomplicated for my liking, but there is always a lot going on and I found myself devouring page after page and chapter after chapter.
A couple more passes of proof-reading would have helped eliminate some stray punctuation and spelling, but this didn't massively impact the enjoyment of reading Neon Helix.
A solid effort which I would be happy to recommend to any fan of Cyberpunk or Science Fiction.
The pacing and story are great keeping you engaged through the book, the character development is done in such a way that you see bits of you in at least every character, this allows you to question what you would do and how you feel about the characters actions.
This book is a truly original story which borrows from known themes and sub genres that makes it feel all to familiar, but in this allows you to relate and understand the story.
I would definitely recommend this book, for the price and the time to read it is worth it, you won’t be disappointed.
So, when do we get book 2 please?
