About the Author

Kevin O'Neill worked as an art assistant on the very first issue of 2000 AD and quickly became involved in the creative side of the comic, co-creating classics like A.B.C. Warriors, Metalzoic and Nemesis the Warlock. Along with fellow 2000 AD alumni Pat Mills, he co-created the cult hero Marshall Law and teamed up with Alan Moore to illustrate The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - a hugely successful comic which was adapted into a big budget Hollywood movie starring Sean Connery. Pat Mills is the creator and first editor of 2000 AD and cocreator of ABC Warriors, Finn, Flesh, Nemesis the Warlock and Slaine. In the US, Pat is best known for Marshall Law, the cult character he co-created with artist Kevin O'Neill.

My son, who is a graphic novel fan, was delighted with this - and he is choosy! Would recommend it.

These b&w compilations can get a bit visually dense, especially with Nemesis - the imagery is so detailed and busy, sometimes tiny, and although this means pleasurable minutes spent dwelling on a single frame, I do find myself reading it sporadically in small bursts, and coveting the colour edition.

Grimlock
5.0 out of 5 stars Underrated Gem of a Comic
Reviewed in the United States on 15 September 2012
The Nemesis the Warlock comics are very underrated, as are most of 2000AD's series. The artwork is top notch, and the story of the comic is very different and actually works. Pat Mills' best work in my opinion. The first review here states that the comics were originally printed in color which is WRONG. The original 2000AD printings of the comics were in black and white, and it does not deter from the amazingly detailed artwork of Kevin O'Neill, Jesus Redondo, and Brian Talbot. This is the comic that put Kevin O'Neill on the map. This volume is a great deal, as you get the first stories of the Nemesis series and a nice bunch of artwork and cover artwork that the artists did for the 2000AD progs they were first printed in. Definitely recommended to all comic fans.

4.0 out of 5 stars I had a lot of fun revisiting these comics from the 1980s

I had a lot of fun revisiting these comics from the 1980s, but I sure wish the pages were larger to better accommodate the original art dimensions. Kevin O'Neal is in top form here and the stories are almost as good as he is. Overall, this is very, very entertaining 2000 AD material.
