Product Description

Are your plants being attacked by hidden bugs? Vine weevils are common pests in greenhouse and garden - the larvae will eat roots and corms and the adults crawl around at night and chew notches around the leaves. The best way of beating them is to attack the active larvae with nematodes. Our killer pack contains a paste which is easily mixed in a watering can.

Often you won't notice you're infested until plants start to sicken in the spring. The culprits are little c-shaped grubs with a dark head and creamy body that eat the roots of the plant. The adult then proceeds to eat scalloped edges into the leaves it comes across.

Vine weevils lay their eggs in July so by August the grubs are out and about. That's the best time to use this nematode paste to clobber them. Just dilute and water onto the roots of the affected plants.

been using this for years now - forgot last year in the slightly wet summer and got hammered overwinter and early spring by these weevils, so bought from amazon as currently best price - easy to use with a large holed rose on watering can or just take rose off and apply carefully to pots and rest of garden/allotment
this stuff WORKS

Vine weevils are becoming a real pest and this is about the only treatment that seems to work. The difference when we emptied pots after using this product was startling - from dozens of weevils previous years to just one (possibly a pot I missed treating I confess) Not cheap, but why spend less on a treatment that does not work?

I have been buying this product in Spring and Autumn for the last three years, and my vine weevil problem is now under control. It is not cheap, but it works, and is preferable to the use of chemicals.

The packet says "Contains 50 million beneficial naturally occurring beneficial nematodes." I think I may have been 3 short but can not be certain as I did lick my fingers once or twice while counting.
The product was delivered promptly and was easy to apply (using the tip by another reviewer who suggested dividing and pre mixing in a jam jar). I will not know how effective the treatment has been for a few months and I will try to remember to update this review in the light of results.

I have used the ant nematodes, with superb results, in the past and was therefore confident of another success with these after my Ilex aquifolium JC van Toll trees and laurel hedging were decimated by those blasted vine weevils. I applied it in November and so far, touchwood, the decimation has stopped. The proof of the pudding will be apparent in the Spring and I will update this review on its longterm success. Fingers xed.

April 30th 2011- Well, I can honestly say that there has been a reduction in the rate of decimation of aforementioned plants but the problem still remains albeit at a much lower level. Perhaps another treatment may get topside of it, but it isn't cheap. Saying that there doesn't seem to be a 'mass infestation' solution on the market in terms of an 'off the shelf' product. The chemical ones in the garden centres only come in very small packs and are only designed to treat small volumes such as that of a plant pot. The cost of these are also highly prohibitive (more than 3 times the cost of nematodes)in comparison to the size of areas that they will treat, so on balance I think the nematodes are the only way forward for the time being.

This is a must for the keen gardener. Its easy to mix and distribute around the garden using a watering can. Having spent a vast amount of money on plants it is well worth spending a little more on these nematodes as they do the job and keep vine weevil under control. I will definitely be ordering more in the spring.

Bought a year ago......treated all my pots but when changing compost last month SEVERAL pots had weevil grubs. I have reverted to a Provado drench...it had worked well enough in past years.
The use of biological control rather than pesticides IS attractive BUT they are NOT 100% reliable. This product was only 50% reliable...despite careful attention to the instructions.

By the time as I realised what these little white 'grubs' where, I had found lots of them in my potted plants ( my garden consists of at least 30 potted plants, including fruit trees, in a variety of sizes. Since using this solution I have noticed some grins remaining in 2 situations. I guess that's what I would have to call success. Just reordered a 'double delivery,' for further treatment, now and in the autumn. Definitely a saviour to my potted garden.
