Spatone is natural

Spatone is a naturally occurring iron-rich mineral water which is collected and packed straight from the source in the heart of Snowdonia, North Wales. We collect it, we filter it and we fill it straight into our convenient, easy-to-open sachets. At no stage do we add anything to the water or convert the water’s natural composition. That means with Spatone you don’t have to worry about other ingredients causing adverse reactions or complications.

Spatone offers a unique product format

Spatone is packed into convenient, individual sachets which can either be taken as they are or added to fruit juice - making Spatone a convenient liquid iron supplement.

The iron in Spatone is highly absorbable

It is not actually how much iron we consume that matters but the amount of iron that our body is able to absorb. The absorption of iron is a very complex process and iron is generally recognised as a mineral that is difficult for our system to absorb. Spatone has been scientifically shown to have a bioavailability of iron (the amount of iron available to be absorbed) of 40%. This is much higher than the iron absorption from food sources (5-20%) or conventional iron supplements (3-10%). Spatone is thus a highly effective source of iron which can be consumed to help maintain healthy iron levels or to help prevent iron deficiency during pregnancy.

Spatone is gentle on the stomach

Since the iron in Spatone is easily assimilated in the stomach, you only need to take a small quantity to get your entire recommended daily allowance (RDA) of absorbed iron. This is why Spatone does not result in the common side effects often associated with conventional iron supplements such as constipation, stomach irritation or headaches. Each sachet of Spatone only contains 5mg of elemental iron but with an average absorption rate of 40%* you will get all the iron your body needs without having to excrete too much iron: often the cause of the unpleasant side effects experienced with iron supplementation. *Nelsons Nutritional Study - The Significant Impact of Spatone on Iron Levels, 2009.

Your gentle, daily, iron provider
  • Ideal for everyone (over the age of two), including pregnant and post-natal women.
  • This iron is naturally in water, so it’s easily and gently absorbed by your body.
  • Iron is an essential mineral for carrying oxygen around your body and maintaining good health.
  • One sachet of Spatone, or up to two during pregnancy, should fulfil your daily requirement for iron.
  • Ideally taken, diluted in orange juice in the morning on an empty stomach, or in between meals.
  • It is advisable to leave a 30-45min gap between the consumption of iron supplements and the consumption of food and drinks such as e.g. tea, coffee or red wine.
  • Ingredient: Natural water with a high content of iron sulphate.
  • Food supplements should not be used as a substitute for a varied balanced diet and healthy lifestyle.

Indications

Iron is an essential mineral for carrying oxygen around your body and maintaining good health. Spatone is iron-rich water coming straight from the source - Trefriw Wells Spa in Snowdonia. This iron is naturally in water, so it's easily and gently absorbed by your body. It should not cause certain side effects (stomach irritation and constipation) associated with high supplemental iron intake. Add one Spatone sachet to a fruit juice - iron is more easily absorbed when taken with Vitamin C. Spatone sachets can be easily popped into a pocket, bag or handbag. Helps to maintain iron level during the 3rd trimester. Spatone is a great family purchase.

I have a medical condition which makes me anaemic. I found tablets hard to tolerate and my readings used to come in at around 14, which was at the very bottom end of what is healthy. Spatone has helped me maintain readings of 26, with no side-effects whatsoever.

I was recommended Spatone by my GP. It is sold at Boots over the counter, but is hugely more expensive than tablets, which is why it is not available on the NHS, although apparently most GPs do know it's the best and fastest treatment for anaemia out there.

Within a week of taking Spatone (two sachets a day in orange juice - but remember I'm anaemic, not just supplementing), I had pink rather than purple lips, and rosy cheeks. Best of all, I stopped needing so much sleep - I used to wake up feeling more tired than when I'd gone to bed, but now I can manage perfectly adequately on a normal 8 hour quota of sleep and very early mornings are no longer impossible.

I will never be without this and the sachet packaging is genius.

I've been taking spatone for about 2 months now and feel so much better for it. I understand that a lack of iron contributes to exhaution, since taking this I have felt a lot more energetic. You're suppose to take iron with vitamin c and most people take it with oranage juice but i can't really stomach orange juice so I take it with a vitamin c fizzy vitamin in the morning, seems to work treat!

Wasn't expecting much from this product, but I suffer from IC and can't handle the fillers in most tablets, so had to give this a try.

It's great stuff, you can taste the iron in it so I'm sure it must be doing something! My iron levels are always low and this actually puts a bit of colour back into my cheeks. It's probably the best supplement I've ever tried. It's slightly more expensive than most tablets but it's such a good product that I'm happy to pay the price.

Being constantly borderline anaemic... and unable to tolerate iron tablets... I was delighted to discover Spatone. It really does seem to help - with none of the nasty side effects I get from the tablets.

These are good for maintaining iron levels without the horrible side effects of tablets. However I have been told by my g.p. the levels contained in the sachets won't help if you already have a deficiency as the content is too low.

I too am mildly anaemic and have suffered after-effects (e.g. nausea, flatulence, black stools, etc. - the "usual suspects", so to speak) from taking iron pills - I've tried different brands but with the same after-effects. Recently, my local chemist shop suggested I tried liquid iron (I'd never heard of it before), and further suggested Spatone. Great solution. No after-effects, and the Spatone does its job. I take the iron liquid supplement first thing in the morning, in a small amount of orange juice. (An iron pill would have had me bloated with wind within half an hour if I took it first thing.) Wait an hour before having your morning tea or coffee. I understand that there are other liquid iron supplements available but I'll stay with Spatone for now.

My wife took two of these a day during pregnancy as her iron was too low. She continued because she was a vegetarian and Spatone is a really effective iron supplement. It doesn't have the kind of side effects that iron tablets often cause.

I have recently began taking a sachet a day and I have noticed a real difference in the way I feel generally.

I was put off by the thought of the metallic taste. But it isn't too strong and you hardly notice it when mixed with juice.

28 sachets for around £4 is really great value and I will continue to take it daily.
