Simmons is supposed to be a Young fan, but you wouldn't know it from this lazily compiled cuttings job. Basically an extended magazine article, with a few uninspiring old photos thrown in, this slim volume does no justice to either author or subject. Anyone with even a passing interest in Young's career will already be familiar with the material recycled here, while fans will quickly become irritated by the many errors of fact and unsupported assertions. Anyone really interesed in Neil Young's life and music should give this one a wide berth, save a few quid extra and buy Jimmy McDonough's wonderful Shakey instead. Now that's a real labour of love.

A must -read book featuring new and previously unpublished interviews with friends and fellow artists.
His relatively unknown friendship with Charles Manson gets a worthy mention in the book as does his ...1980's output.
A masterpiece of a book and a must have for any Neil Young devotee.
