Having looked forward to this novel for many months I am delighted to report that Lisa Gardner is back on form. I agree with Colonel Hall in his assessment of her last novel, which was a disappointment.

This time she provides her readers with a riveting story, which I found impossible to put down.

I won't give you the story line, as other reviewers have provided that. However, it won't spoil the novel if I tell you that none of the main characters are what they seem, and the twists keep coming thick and fast.

By the end I was reading so quickly I had to re-read the last two chapters more carefully in order to fill in the bits I'd missed!

Incidently, the child in the novel, Ree, is delightful. Made me want a daughter all over again!

I am sure this is a completely original story line, but (and this is not a criticism) I am reminded of Sophie Hannah's Little Face. This is a real compliment, as Sophie is one of my absolute favourite authors.

Buy this novel; you won't be disappointed! Alternatively, if you're lucky enough to be new to Lisa Gardner, buy anything and everything she's written, as almost all of her books are brilliant; well paced, gripping and well written.

I really like books that make me think like a detective and then blow me away when I realise that I did not know "who done it". Another great read from Lisa Gardner

Lisa Gardner's books are amazing and not straight forward. When you think you know what path she's taking you on she flips it round and completely catches you by surprise. Would absolutely recommend you download any if not all [!] of her wonderful books.

I am a Lisa Gardner fan and was eagerly awaiting this book. This isn't so much a follow on from the 'Bobby Dodge' series that she has done, it was more of an extension of the series. In the book we meed DD Warren who featured in the last two Bobby Dodge books (Alone and Hide).

DD is a tough talking female cop who is on the trail of a missing woman. The Jones are a normal couple. It seems that Jason Jones and his wife Sandra along with their daughter Ree had a normal life, until Jason comes home and finds his wife missing. All there is to prove this theory is a broken lampshade and some missing bed sheets. DD starts the investigation and finds that Jason and Sandra's life seems a little 'too' normal for her liking. After delving, we are introduced to possible suspects for Sandra's dissapearance one of whom is registered in the sex offenders list and just happens to live on the same street as her. Sandra's father is also an unknow in this case and DD doesn't like the vibes she is picking up from him. She finds the case gets incredibly complicated the more she looks into both Sandra and Jason's past.

This particular book had me (literally) on the edge of my seat. It gave so many suspect possibilities, along with quite a few scenarios that you wondered..."did they do it". I think her descriptions of characters are fantastic and you end up having very strong feelings about them very early on (always a good sign I think). It was just what a good crime book needs and Lisa Gardner (yet again) has delivered it. As usual I will be placing my pre-order months before so I don't miss out on her next book. FANTASTIC!

A young mother, Sandra Jones, goes missing from her South Boston home, leaving behind her four year old daughter. The police immediately start to suspect her secretive husband, Jason, who was at work, at the time of the disappearance.

I thought this book just plodded for the first 150 pages. I was thinking that it was a thriller without the thrills. Also, it was hard to relate to the main characters of the Jones family, as we know so little about them. Sandra goes missing very early on, husband, Jason is as cold as ice, and the daughter, Ree is
just a kid.

However, as the book progressed, I started to enjoy it, as more details about the characters, and their strange family life was revealed. Overall, I thought the novel was a solid read, but by no means outstanding.
