The stabilizer works as described. Go to Youtube and search for videos with footage shot using this stabilizer. In fact any of the footage on Youtube shot with this type of stabilizer will give you a good idea of the type results you'll get with the Neewer.
I managed to set up and balance the Neewer in about 30 minutes... again watch the tutorial videos on Youtube for step-by-step demonstrations.
The Neewer was surprisingly easy to use... the key is getting the steering technique right. A youtube search for 'How to Use a Glidecam' will bring up loads of demonstration videos that show the correct way to operate this type of stabilizer. They all work on the same principle so don't get too hung up on trying to find this exact model in the demo videos.
However, there is minor gripe with the Neweer Handheld Stabilizer which made it initially uncomfortable to use for me... the handgrip.
Because of the way hand held stabilizers are designed. All of the weight of the rig is transferred to the handle. The problem is handgrip is covered in an plastic coating. Which can rub against the palm of your hand. It made using the stabilizer a bit uncomfortable to use until I got used to holding & steering the rig.
In short the Neewer works as described, is light weight, easy to balance, set up and use. It's slightly let down by the poor choice of handle covering. But overall this was a great buy & I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a cost effective 'glidecam' type stabilizer rig.
The 'quick release plate' isn't a quick release plate at all unless you count how quickly it falls to the ground when the tightening knobs decide not to work even when properly tightened.
Loosening one of the knobs basically releases the whole top part so hold on tight when adjusting that. The knobs themselves fall off as the glue isn't strong enough on them.
The handle hits the top of the steadicam which is very impractical and cannot be adjusted so when filming if you want a different angle be aware that it will hit the head of the steadicam.
The pole to lengthen the steadicam moves around so you cannot get it centred which as steadicams work on balance this destroys the point of this equipment.
Seriously disappointed and would not recommend!
WARNING!- Do NOT expect to be able to use this out of the box! (especially if your first time) You may need more weight on top and it can be hard to control at first, practise lots in your house and garden and you will soon become much better.
