Neewer 24"/60cm Handheld Stabilizer with Quick Release Plate 1/4" and 3/8" Screw for DSLR and Video Cameras up to 6lbs

The stabilizer works as described. Go to Youtube and search for videos with footage shot using this stabilizer. In fact any of the footage on Youtube shot with this type of stabilizer will give you a good idea of the type results you'll get with the Neewer.

I managed to set up and balance the Neewer in about 30 minutes... again watch the tutorial videos on Youtube for step-by-step demonstrations.

The Neewer was surprisingly easy to use... the key is getting the steering technique right. A youtube search for 'How to Use a Glidecam' will bring up loads of demonstration videos that show the correct way to operate this type of stabilizer. They all work on the same principle so don't get too hung up on trying to find this exact model in the demo videos.

However, there is minor gripe with the Neweer Handheld Stabilizer which made it initially uncomfortable to use for me... the handgrip.

Because of the way hand held stabilizers are designed. All of the weight of the rig is transferred to the handle. The problem is handgrip is covered in an plastic coating. Which can rub against the palm of your hand. It made using the stabilizer a bit uncomfortable to use until I got used to holding & steering the rig.

In short the Neewer works as described, is light weight, easy to balance, set up and use. It's slightly let down by the poor choice of handle covering. But overall this was a great buy & I'd recommend it for anyone looking for a cost effective 'glidecam' type stabilizer rig.

Actually a decently built bit of kit with a quality feel to it. Only let down by the camera mount. Not Quick Release at all. I am going to buy an additional release plate to bolt to it. Biggest problem is when you take you camera off, you loose your patiently, carefully positioned balance point and have to set it up again next time you attach the camera. Other than that, it works well. The bearings are super smooth and camera balances well, even with a Rode stereo mic bolted on top. I have only given this three stars due to the ludicrous mounting system. Once i've spent a tenner on an additional quick release that can stay bolted in position it will be a five star product.

Excellent quality! Quite tricky to set up and balance, you do however get a DVD explaining how to set it up/ balance.

Build quality, excellent, really really surprised at that. One thing to note, this is not an out-of-the box peice of kit, you dont just attach it and use it. You're going to need to adjust the weights, the shaft and the top plate, try YouTubing it if it helps.
It's not as smooth as some of the bigger brands, im assuming it's because it has a smaller footplate than say a Glidecam but it does a pretty decent job.

Still getting used to this stabilizer.
Build quality seem good. Balancing can be a bit tricky depending on your gear.
For the price, I really don't think you can go wrong.
If you're getting into video this is one of those things that will increase your production quality by a factor of 10, if well used, so get one, learn to use it, and after a while, if your work demands it, sell it and get a better one!
Motorized gimbals are great, but they take up space, need power, and I wanted something easy to travel with, small and that would work with 3 different cameras, so this was perfect!
