It's a good bit of fun, and if you enjoyed NFS Hot Pursuit, this will be in your ball park. There are a lot of features taken from NFS Most Wanted, but in the main it is more of a successor to Hot Pursuit. The cars look great, the scenery and changing weather is a nice touch, and even crashes look nice.
There are a couple of features with the online portion that niggle (migrating host issues), but aside from that, its all a bit of arcade fun, and great when you play with friends.
If you wish you can do your own thing instead which is what most people seem to do but you can still come across other players by accident doing their own thing. This makes gameplay unpredictable. You might find yourself doing a time attack game and abandoning it (only if you want to) to enter a hot pursuit mission with another player.
I must say I prefer the old hot pursuit online as you went straight to a lobby and had up to 4 vs 4 cars in a game which was more fun than this. This new game is still fun but in a different way.
Its the usual fayre of working your way up the police/racer ladder earning points for new cars and weapons.Weapons include spike strips/power ram/shockwave etc.
One good idea in this game to earn points/money is the longer you keep going without getting busted/wrecked the more you earn with a muliplier.Unfortunately if you get busted you lose the lot from that session or you can drive into a hideout (marked on the map) and bank your points but that ends the current mission.Police missions are similar but you drive to a command centre instead.
In one player mode you do missions but certain AI cars that you pass will challenge you to a one on one race. This is optional.
One thing I preferred in the original game was that the crashes were much more spectacular but its been dumbed down in this game and sometimes the respawn is a bit glitchy.Visuals are good but not keen on the night driving sections, there are rain effects as well that kicks in randomly
Highly recommend this game once you get used to it.Prefer the online on the old game but as always happens online the number of players dwindle over time.Shame
