I have whiplash. Talk about an angst fest. But I like a forbidden romance and to be honest the mixed reviews had me a little intrigued.

"Just because he's best friends with my brother doesn't make Brayden my brother as well."

So, we have Kira and Brayden. His best friends little sister, their story begins when she's 7 and he 10. Time moves on to their teens and just as the temperature begins to heat up between them, her mum and his dad decide to tie the knot. Loves young dream becomes a living nightmare.

"We're both trapped in misery."

The majority of the book covers Kira's 15-17 years and Brayden's 18-20. He knows he can't touch her as she's underage, but his hormones disagree. And Kira, well, for a fifteen year old the girl has quite the dirty mind and inner sexual vixen, which I found a little overplayed at times considering she had no experience.

They frustrated the hell out of me. The denial and the fight between them brought bucket loads of angst, but it with sprinklings of sweet and touching it definitely held emotion. But I have to say these two characters have me sitting on the fence somewhat; I struggled to warm to both Kira and Brayden and spent a large part of the book wanting to bang their heads together. But the glimpse given of Take gives me confidence that this will change. Although I don't doubt it will hold plenty more angst.

"Shouldn't that all consuming ache be less, not more?"

3.5 stars.

I'll be honest with you. I've been avoiding all the "stepbrother" books that seem to be glutting the erotic romance market lately. Being a stepbrother myself, I guess I find them a bit creepy. Even though there is no blood between me and my stepsister, the very idea of a relationship with her reeks of incest anyway. So I took on this book with a bit of trepidation. However, I'm glad I took a chance on it.

The book is well written, no obvious flaws in terms of execution. The story had me from the beginning. A young man, Brayden, has a new family move in next door. He finds that he is instant friends with Ryan, a boy about his own age, a friendship that will last a lifetime. His little sister, Kira is another thing.

Kira is only 7 years old when they first meet, and Brayden is only 10, but they hit it off right away. There is a chemistry there that neither really understands, all they know is they like spending time together. Their friendship is real and only grows deeper as they grow up together.

Of course, years later they begin to feel other urges, urges they cannot understand, but urges they are finding harder and harder to ignore. Everything begins to fall apart when Brayden's mother and father get divorced, and it's revealed that Kira's mother and Brayden's father are getting married, thereby making Brayden and Kira stepbrother and stepsister.

By this time, Brayden is 17 and Kira is 14. Being older, Brayden takes it upon himself to put a stop to any kind of intimate relationship between the two of them. He pushes her away, even though it kills him to do so. The idea of their family or friends finding out is terrifying to him. Kira doesn't really understand, and is terribly hurt by all this.

One of the most angst-filled novels i have read in a long time. The world revolves around one person you are in love with and nothing and no one can change that or at least take away the edge.
A brilliant play on emotions. The plot in comparison to the struggle of two star-crossed lovers fades and all you care about is their pain.

Very well executed and the sequel is certainly going on my to-read list.

1.5 Stars DNF!!!

Need is book #1 in the Need Series this is the first book I have read by these authors. I was gifted a copy of this book to read for Gemma Reads Too Much.

I’m afraid to say that I’m a DNF at 48%. I hate not finishing a book, it feels even worse when I have been gifted the book but to be honest I just can’t hack anymore of this story.

The angst, good god the angst!! Brayden is the most intense angst ridden teenager ever!! I’d go as far as to say that he is Dawson of Dawson’s Creek x ten!!!

I get that this is a weird situation Brayden is lusting after his younger step sister but do you know what the most important word is in that statement???

It’s STEP!!!

Kira is not his sister she is in no way related to him at all.

The only thing that’s taboo is that she is younger than him.

Now she’s a massive pain in the ass tease and he’s an idiot and to be honest this whole book has made me want to slam my head against a wall over and over again!!!

On average I read a full book in 2-3 hours yet I’ve been desperately trying to get through this one for 12hrs and I’m only at 48%

which is why I’ve admitted defeat.

I just can’t get into this story; I don’t like the characters or the premise.

The blurb for this book is great, I was looking forward to reading it but I just feel completely disconnected.

We all know teenagers are horny but these two are obsessed if they thought with their actual brains for a bit they could solve the issues they are having very quickly.

Sorry but this book made me want to watch the TV!!

I give the 48% I read a 1.5 stars.
